But the whole point of the episode format was to release sequels in a short amount of time, so we wouldn't be waiting years for sequels. So as far as what their established goal was, Valve has failed terribly.Radeonx said:I find it interesting that just because they are taking a long time to release a game, everyone says that they are fucking up.
There are plenty of sequels that have come out years later, so get some patience and get over it.

The fact that they've made a sequel in the gap of a year and that they haven't done anything else.Demented Teddy said:..........What exactly is wrong with the L4D series?
fine choice of console
I have to disagree with you on your points for a number of reasons. While L4D2 had the same core concepts of L4D, it added many more things which fans in particular would have wanted to see, for example: melee weapons and realism mode (two things which keep me fascinated for hours in the game).MHS_Birdy said:I see what you mean. L4D is just a renewable source. It is a fun game but you can re-write the same story in a new surrounding. Its almost become a guitar hero-esk franchise. Same game, Same Graphics, Same story, Same evrything but wait, OH!!!?!?!? They added new songs.
All you mention is Episode 3 and an Update for TF2 for Consoles (Something they already explained the reasoning to why they can't do [Ask someone else for a Link if you need to read it for yourself, I don't have one]).pyrosaw said:But as I said in my starting paragraph, they are many things things to there name that isn't finished.
although you do make a valid point, i'm just perplexed as to why they would annouce L4D3 and 4.They already have seen the dumbasses who tried to ban L4D2 why would they do it again?Even though I for one am extremely excited to play it, portal doesn't need a sequel.TheNumber1Zero said:All you mention is Episode 3 and an Update for TF2 for Consoles (Something they already explained the reasoning to why they can't do [Ask someone else for a Link if you need to read it for yourself, I don't have one]).pyrosaw said:But as I said in my starting paragraph, they are many things things to there name that isn't finished.
Please name these "Many" things to do, because 2 is not all that "Many".
Oh, and I disagree on the quality drop, although I haven't really played too many Valve games (Only L4D and L4D2 as far as I know)
well its you opinion if you like it or not however the fact that HL2E3 is not even a "new" instalment rather than a DLC or mod for HL2 that re-uses the HL2 engine over and over again. it has nearly been 3 years that any other development company could have released it within 1 yearSusano said:Can someone tell me why everyone gets so worked up over the Half Life series? IMO It's not even particularly good, I much preferred Portal, and TF2 is brilliant. Even L4D1 and 2, while they eventually get boring, give more satisfaction.pyrosaw said:Without Half Life 2 episode 3 anywhere in sight
I would be happy if they released a small game tying up all the loose HL ends, and moved on to something like TF3, or made a new series.
Do you have any evidence for that, or is that an opinion based on personal dislike?LeonLethality said:In my opinion they can't get any worse.
See, haters just hating isn't getting us anywhere. If you've concerns about Valve, how about you address them, address how other companies are doing better, and provide constructive opinion on how they could better themselves?Souplex said:It's evident that their fanbase isn't particularly concerned with their quality however.
Well, there is a chance that they will be revealing a new Source engine at E3 and with it a fully upgraded Half Life 3, so cross your fingers on that.pyrosaw said:-snip-
