Given how awesome they're gonna have to make HL3 or HL2:3, I'd rather they took their time, rather than release them early, as was shown with L4D2.

Can someone tell me why everyone gets so worked up over the Half Life series? IMO It's not even particularly good, I much preferred Portal, and TF2 is brilliant. Even L4D1 and 2, while they eventually get boring, give more satisfaction.
I would be happy if they released a small game tying up all the loose HL ends, and moved on to something like TF3, or made a new series.

well its you opinion if you like it or not however the fact that HL2E3 is not even a "new" instalment rather than a DLC or mod for HL2 that re-uses the HL2 engine over and over again. it has nearly been 3 years that any other development company could have released it within 1 year

there are comparisons to DN:forever and HL2E3, besides Half-life made valve and the game is really appealing to PC games who played HL back in the day and had fun,like me

Episode 1: June 1, 2006 (2 years)
Episode 2:October 10, 2007 (1 year)

Assuming they're trying to make it good, like HL2, then it hasn't even been that long yet, only 3 years.

Just want to point out 1 thing. Good companies tend to stick to only couple of franchises instead of spreading themselves all over the billion titles. Take a closer look at Blizzard - Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo (OK! Fine. Lost Viking and Rock and Roll Racing, but I doubt we will see World of Lost Vikings or Rock and Roll Racing: Wheels of Liberty in a near future). 3 (!) titles that probably are the 50% of the top 10 games in gaming history. Valve is following exactly the same road and I am happy with it.

Because said people failed, and for a reason.

Most of them just bought it anyways, and I'm sure a fair amount of those most enjoyed it.
Not to mention all the people who didn't bother to Boycott (Not Ban, as Boycotting does nothing more than try to persuade)

Even though I for one am extremely excited to play it, portal doesn't need a sequel.

I dunno, making a sequel to a game with Co-Op, actual length of a game, and possibly creating new Jokes that will create New, less annoying, memes sounds like good reasoning to me.

I dont know maybe its the perfect pacing,perfect atmosphere,perfect gameplay and the epitome of level design with a level of polish not seen from any other developer even if its not your cup a tea its still an inspiring piece of game design.The new hl can take as long as it wants whatever there doing over there i know its sacred and when they think its ready their work will speak for itself

Well i was not really bashing Valve for their L4D series but just how long can they milk the money cow? You can add new ideas and new gameplay modes but at its base it is still a survival zombie game. That is not really a BAD thing, and its perfectly fine but they are making a small fanbase not of valve but of L4D. People still play GH games. I cant really say from the people I know, but no one is really sitting on edge waiting for the next GH game. I dont know if it was the same for other people but i LOVED the original left 4 dead, but i could not stand the second one. I dont know why but to me the melee was un-inspired and just added to change things up for a moment. I really dont even know what it was but somewhere in the formula they added a bad seed. Not to mention that it pretty much killed the original Left 4 dead online (on the consoles) and then i was left with a L4D i couldnt stand and no one to play with (Francis is NOT fun to play with).

I do like FPSes, It's just that I don't see much that sets HL apart from other FPSes. I played Halo and had roughly the same amount of fun.

Yes I'm getting pretty sick of them. TF2 has been so bastardised over time (opinion OPINION. PLEASE DON'T HIT ME)

I didn't mind the changes until the community added weapons (which were all pretty rubbish) and the over spam of hats. I agree that it is becoming a bit over saturated with nonsense but luckily most people don't use it on the servers I go to so it isn't so bad.

I personally don't really play Half Life but wasn't the point of the episode split meant to make it quicker to develop? Each part was originally planned to be a year apart. Circumstances change sure but they seem to be biting off more than they can chew is all so it makes everything progress slower. That is how I see it anyway.

I dislike the new Steam website and software though I can't even gift people games any more it just takes me to a blank screen (that is why I dislike it, it's not because of change it is because it doesn't work for me.) :<

That's not a rumor you heard. That's a thing you read on a website by someone that said that the E3 surprise is L4D3.

Which I'd like to hear, if possible, I really don't get all this Valve hate. Sure, the new TF2 menu is diabolical, Steam doesn't work on some systems, it is a form of DRM, they may be gaining a LOT of digital downloads; but against Blizzard/Activision/Ubisoft? Small potatoes really.
