What do you mean losing their touch? Theyve got quite a few people clambering over any sniff of episode 3 like heroine junkies looking for a fix. They've been able to make a number of well selling games from mods of half life.

The only problem I have is that they made a half assed 360 port then complained that its too hard to make a ps3 port when they've left the 360 versions out in the cold like an unwanted child.
I think EA publish their console ports so those are given deadlines, hence the suckyness ;D
They have no excuse. Don't try and pawn this off on EA :D

The problem I see with Valve, is that they keep disappointing the people waiting for Half Life 3 (Don't say episode 3 because by now it damn well better be a full game) By telling them that they haven't even began TALKING about the game. The whole point of episodic content is that a new chapter is released every year or two. Valve themselves have stated they don't want their fans waiting 6 years to find out what happens to Gordan Freeman next.

It's been 5 years Valve, where's Half Life 3?

It's been 3 years since the last release of a half life game and it will be episode 3

Your point seems to be that they're spreading themselves a nit to thin. Valid argument but there is still hope. And we should be used to To Be Announced with valve games at this point.

You are still demanding that they do it, you're just not demanding that they do it right away. My point still stands.

In my opinion, they don't even have a responsibility to try (which I have no doubt that they did, and determined that it was infeasible).

Note: Infeasible does not mean impossible, it simply means that it would take too long and cost to much and they would rather spend that time and money making new stuff.

I've noticed that HL2:ep3 is seemingly becoming the next duke nukem: waiting forever.
Apparently they've said they're putting off portal 2 as well for some 'surprise'. The L4D thing was a bit annoying with them ignoring their promise for new content in place of just releasing a new and frankly lacking game.

Eh... I like a few of their games, namely Portal, Half-Life 2, and Counterstrike: Source. But I really don't understand why everyone goes bananas for TF2 and L4D... They're just so average. I do like Steam, however. It's one of the best things that has happened for PC Gaming.

Face desk
Look, if they just said "we cant develop for it at the moment" I would accept it as they shouldn't be forced to do it.
If my statement appears contradictory I apologize.

Worst!?!?!?

I say they've become better! I mean, I can finally play Valve games on my Mac! They've just found a new market! If things go well with Steam, PC gaming could finally move to the Mac and Apple will be more open-minded towards gaming!

Maybe I'll stop getting flamed by some random guy on the Internet because I'm using a macbook.

I'm still getting flamed for wanting PS3 support, so valve aren't all the way yet.

I see what you mean. L4D is just a renewable source. It is a fun game but you can re-write the same story in a new surrounding. Its almost become a guitar hero-esk franchise. Same game, Same Graphics, Same story, Same evrything but wait, OH!!!?!?!? They added new songs.
There are only two fucking games.

They may take a long time with some of their titles, but each one of them is amazing, really great quality in things, from Half Life's atmosphere, to Portal's unique take on puzzle games and writing to games like Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead- games that have small details in them, built entirely meant for not just multiplayer gaming, but for cooperation that rewards the player.

They have a long time to go before they're even considered mediocre or past their prime

How is this a change? Am I the only one with a long enough memory to recall the six-year period when literally the only games they released were Half-Life mods that they were packaging and charging for?

So, let me get this strait.

You would rather them imply that they might eventually do it, but then never do it at all as opposed to just be honest and strait up tell everyone that they are not going to do it?

That makes absolutely no sense to me.

Here's the thing, TF2 on the 360 CANT be updated anymore, since it's baseically run out of room to store the information.

It's evident that their fanbase isn't particularly concerned with their quality however.
Flameing, from my Souplex?

It's more likely then you think!

As long as people are shoveling their money over to them they can, and will exercise their right to do whatever the fuck they want

Sorry, Ill try again. If they say they can't dev for the PS3 fine.
But Newell then went on to insult the PS3 itself and announce mac support.
You have to admit when they dev for PC, 360 and Mac, not announcing PS3 support is a little strange if not stupid.

What do you mean by becoming worse? They haven't released a game, that doesn't mean their bad developers, or becoming worese developers.

I think they're games are great and I'm not minding the wait.
