Well since when have they announced left 4 dead 3 and 4?

Honestly I've found Valve titles to be consistently good, even when the material they're working with is a bit un-original or leaves little room for creativity (I.e the zombie apocalypse) they can pull it off to be fresh and clever.
I think somebody believed Game Informer's 2010 April Fool's joke.

Speaking as someone who vastly preferred Portal and Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 over Half Life: Episode 1 and 2, I think that this new direction is all for the best. I wouldn't mind seeing a new Half Life but I know it would be nowhere near the top of my 'games to buy list' and would end up sitting somewhere around 'wait until the price has been knocked down and buy it second hand on a two for one with a game I want more.'

My issues with the Half Life series belong in a different thread, for this one I simply say that I think they are still going strong, and in fact I am now more aware and happy with their work than I was when they only had Half Life going for them.

I personally feel they are getting better, I'm not a fan of Half Life, just could never get into them really, whereas I adore TF2, Left 4 Dead and Portal.

Half Life: Good.
Half Life 2: The most boring piece of average I have ever played.
I give you that half life was a damn fun bit of fps wizardry, but in the grand scheme of things it's blocky and dated and the AI was about as cunning with a slug on meth.

Half Life 2 was more of the same, only better with a bigger world to bugger about in.

Personally i think it's a big step up and improvement over the original in terms of writing and game play.

But hey that's just my opinion, and i don't think Valve's degrading in quality their just slow. Really really slow.

How is this a change? Am I the only one with a long enough memory to recall the six-year period when literally the only games they released were Half-Life mods that they were packaging and charging for?
Remember where we are. Most people here would father Gabe Newells children regardless of whether nature would allow it or not.

OT: If Left 4 Dead 3 gets announced any time soon then my answer will be yes.

So far however I say they are doing a very good job (even though I am annoyed Portal 2 is delayed). I am yet to play a game that I have not enjoyed of theirs so it is very hard for me to criticise them.
I'm about as big a Valve fanboy as they come. My point is that the wait for Episode 3 isn't exactly atypical for the company.

Valve's games have always been great, and that level of quality hasn't been dipping off recently. The only people that have problems are the fans ? they feel that they deserve these games faster, or that they deserve to have their favorite franchises placed at a higher priority. When the biggest problem that an audience has with a developer is that they can't spend their money fast enough, you know you're talking about a pretty great developer.

No. All their latest games have been creative and fun to play, why would they be losing their touch?

I don't think so. Then again all I have played is Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2.

Why do so many people on TF3?
TFC lasted bout 7-9 years was it? There are still TFC servers going and enough custom maps to go around for 3 months straight

TF2 is only 3-4 years old and has a shit load of custom maps, different game modes, and mods.
I'm pretty sure yall haven't even touched half of the maps available out right now. I know I haven't. And besides, Valve isn't even done with the game yet if you think about it. There's no point to make TF3.

TF2 like support my ass, they didn't give the game 5 minutes of their time after they put it out.
Over 120 updates not enough for TF2? And correct me wrong isn't new DLC coming out for L4D?
No no ya read me wrong. L4D was supposed to have "TF2 like support" as they said before L4D release, it's had really nothing and there are some really bad bugs in that game.

I'll start liking them when they just stop being so stupid with their release dates.

Lets see here.

Past work by Valve- Half life saga, half life 2 saga, portal, TF2.

Recent work- L4d1 followed by L4D2 instantly.

Half life episode 3 is taking one hell of a long time, and yet they can crank out L4D2 in ONE YEAR?! But episode means 1/3 of a gme, and L4D2 is a totally new game (lol).

Valve is the new EA imo.

Well, I still think Valve's doing a bloody good job.
Yeah, so Half-Life 2: Episode 3 (Westham 0) isn't really getting far.
So what? As long as they're not standing around with either their thumbs up their asses or just going "BIBBIDEBIBBIDEBIBBIDEBIBBIDE' all day long, and actually working on another title, I'm happy.
I'm still having a bloody good time with Half-Life and Team Fortress.
