It's understandable that one might question whether the punishment fits the crime. Ultimately, it's Blizzard's decision. You can question it, but you're unlikely to make them change their minds. I support Blizzard on this, because third-party hacks should not come anywhere near a multiplayer game. SCII is multiplayer at heart. No one cares if you mod a single player game, because it ultimately has no effect on other players.
Exactly. And if no one cares then you shouldn't be banned for doing so.

While banning an entire account and disabling their game and basically throwing that money they spent on your game down the bin is a tad extreme considering it was only single-player.

But then again, I'm inclined to not even look at a hack website! They cause nothing but problems even for the people who don't use them.
it is a 14 day ban, more like a warning, but of course the people the got ban isn't going to tell you that, since it is clearly Blizzard fault for banning them. really?
Well, if it's just a 14 day ban then that's a effective method of getting their "NO HACKERS ANYWHERE" attitude across.

Blizzard Entertainment. They took 9 years to release one-third of a game and now will take another 18 months+ for the other two-thirds and you are mad about this?!?!?! I would honestly be more upset about having to pay full retail price for one-third of a game and being forced to wait for the expansions which should have been original content in the first place. I mean they only had 9 years to make the game and they didn't even get half of it done... 9 YEARS!!!!!!!!

Cheating isn't wrong as such in single player as after all you are only cheating yourself and it affects no one apart from you. Blizzard should really get down off their high horse and stop trying to control every aspect of their game. People have payed their ~60 dollars or whatever for A THIRD OF A GAME so they should be able to play it how ever they want as long as they don't affect the play experience of others.

I totally agree with them, it's the damn way it should be.

But besides that, you may as well be saying let's all boycott cigarettes!

And it'd be a great idea, the little fuckers are designed to kill you, everybody knows it, they even advertise it, but everybody who uses'em in the first place is too addicted to say "Screw this!"

Blizzard's already got too many people hooked.
How dare you like a game! It just means your addicted and that the company is satan!

Since I don't care about cheats or trainers I don't need to worry about this situation. And I'd never boycott Blizz over doing whatever they wish to do with their product, however they wish to market/implement it.

The problem Blizzard had is people using third party cheat to hack online achievement, that is what got them banned. Look there is even build in cheat code. About a third of the game, it worth it since it is bigger then most "full game" so whats to complain about? Just play the single player, a lot of critic said there are "insane production value" put in it.

Get off your soapbox, hacking your game to allow you to unlock multiplayer acheivements and portraits circumvents the prestigue blizz is trying to make with them. If you want to cheat use the built in ones, if you want to hack the game you can burn in hell.

I have played it a bit though I haven't bought the game. I know it does offer a full game experience but for some like me, not having a single player campaign for all factions/races kills the experience somewhat.

i admit that bizz has done some stupid stuff over the year but i think thats more attributed to bobby kotick running it and not blizzard itself

Yeah cause when I used my Gameshark to completely fill in the license board, at the beginning of the game, on FF 12 SE should have taken my game away from me for 14 days. Right?
Yes, if FF12 have online achievement, with build in cheat code.

Trainer use? Yeah, I can see how they'd take that as cheating. If they were banning because of the cheats they threw in I'd see that as unfair, but I'm guessing that the trainer doesn't deactivate achievements like their cheats do. So I understand where they're coming from.

Honestly, they made a great game with one of the best concepts of storytelling in an RTS, I'm not going to start boycotting just because some cheaters expect to be able to do whatever they want.

I'm in the 'it's just a game, get over it' crowd.

I'm sure you all have seen this by now but for those of you who haven't get a look at what those bastards are trying to get away with now. I'm calling for an escapist wide boycott on everything Blizzard.

Now, WHO'S WITH ME!!!

I don't cheat. I don't even play Blizzards games anymore. This is about trying to preserve people single player freedoms. If we let them get away with this they'll just want more and more.
By agreeing to the ELUA, which you have to before playing any game, you agree to play within the limits given. Just because you play single player, it doesn't give the right to crack/hack/abuse their software.

And as far as them wanting more and more... what the fuck are you talking about? All they're doing is trying to ensure their product is used as it was designed to be. If there weren't so many morons that get a power trip from cheating, in a game no less, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I'm not sure whether I should post my official opinion on this whole thing in this thread or in this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.238219-Blizzard-Gives-Single-Player-StarCraft-2-Cheaters-a-Time-Out-Opens-Can-of-Worms].
