Ha yeah, consoles are easier and cheaper, Im on PC though, and that is so expensive! and you have to keep upgrading! To be honest though I used to own an Xbox and the amount that I had to replace it was terrable, I dont want to play on my current one in case it breaks =p.
I got an Xbox too, and lucky for me its a Halo Edition which seems to be bug proof, at least in the time Ive had it

Racing games can go die in a fire.

The only good ones are things like Crash Team Racing or Mario Kart. Or maybe those destruction derby type ones.

Sports and RTS. Sports I just hate in general, and RTS is too fiddly and statistic based. It bores me.

Sport/Racing games (because I don't really see the point), followed by Puzzle games (because I'm not much of a fan of puzzles, I suppose). Fighting games aren't high on my list either.

I've heard that the Shin Megami Tensei series is great too... is it?
Yes, absolutely.
Thanks. I'll check it out if I ever get a PS2.

Besides, the stories of the more recent ones are crap.
These stories are untrue. Play Soul Nomad and the World Eaters, Mana Khemia, TWEWY, or FF12 just for some examples.
I actually haven't heard of those first two. I'll check them out. TWEWY looks great. I still need to pick that one up. But FFXII? Meh.

WRPGs have really taken over the genre in recent years.
No. Just... no. WRPGs have actually greatly declined in number (which I don't mind because what remains is a small number of awesome series) while JRPGs still rule the roost and continue to spawn innumerably.
KOTOR, Mass Effect, Fallout, Arcanum, Gothic, Risen, Fallout 3, Neverwinter Nights, Fable, and The Elder Scrolls series=greatly declining in number? And the upcoming Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins, Divinity II (I hope this game gets more exposure 'cause it looks incredible), Alpha Protocol, The Witcher, and Diablo III are going to be great too. JRPGs, however... with the exception of the new Tri-Ace game whose name escapes me, DQIX (which is going to be great, btw) and FFXIII (which I'm still not sure about), nothing is really on the horizon.

Choosing Racing and Sports. Just so boring, and breaking down why would probably require way more critical thinking then i'm prepared to do right now. However, I must complain that there is one thing nonsensical here: I love puzzlers, but I hate rhythm games. In fact, rhythm games are probably below racing and sports. How are those 2 genres even connected?

I wanted to vote in JPRPG, but I like SOME western ones, like Mass Effect, Fable, and that kind of crap. So I voted on MMO's although I believe that APB will change my mind about that (I hope so)

Argh poll fail.

I absolutely despise sports games but absolutely adore racing games. Split them up. Now. I'm not voting otherwise.
Ok, I'll just put racing in the ninth slot.

Oh wait.
Well MMOs and RPGs are the same thing why not put them together and put the racing genre separate when so many of them are based around illegal (read: awesome) street racing which is not a sport.
Street racing is a sport... an illegal sport, yes, but a sport nonetheless. And I believe racing to be part of the sports genre. Yes, I dislike non-racing sports games just as much as everyone else, but I had to group them together.

On the contrary, MMORPGs are different enough from regular RPGs to consider them a seperate genre. There's no overarching goal, no story for the most part, just mindless grinding. Also, the stat and skill building in most MMOs is fairly paltry, for the most part.
Right sure. Go call up one of your mates that has a car and get him to drive you round corners at funny angles and tear down the main road/nearest dual carriageway/nearest freeway/motorway at unreasonably high speeds.

Street racing is not a sport it's a completely awesome hobby. Have you ever gone round a corner made for people driving at 5MPH at a 90 degree angle and much much faster? No thought not. It's a damn good feeling.

I can list the sports that involve cars on one hand. Indy car, NASCAR, F1, touring cars, D1. Everything else is either a scaled down (or scaled up) version of the same thing or so obscure I've never heard of it.

I disapprove of the idiots that get themselves killed at 17 because they think stereos are what you need. [slow speech] Nooooooo. [/slow speech] That has uneven weight distribution problems and *snip*

Street racing is a hobby. A bloody dangerous (and illegal) hobby. But fuck is it fun.

Annnnnyyyywaaayyyy. The RPG/MMO argument is something you can't really decisively end. I've played many RPG's that had me feeling as if I was playing an MMO and vice versa because they are the same thing minus/plus whiny 10 year olds following you.

Let me tell you a story of *snip*
Oh, boo hoo. Go make your own stupid poll if it matters that much to you. Your suggestion to combine MMOs with RPGs holds just as little weight as OP's combining of sports and racing: I like many (Western) RPGs, but I hate MMOs. So, hush.

Sports/Racing. I suck at sports games and can just as easily watch a game on TV, and I don't like racing unless there's shooting in it (a la Full Auto).

Lol! I was extra happy to click on that option because I abhor them both equally. There are more exceptions to racing for me than sports games though. Mario Kart and Burnout namely.

I'm not closed off to any one genre of games, I just don't try them because I don't have enough money to buy/rent them.
