So I had an Idea for left 4 dead 2 dlc:

What about a short single player campaign starring Bill. Bill has supposedly died in between the events of the first game, and the events of the latest DLC "The Passing". But what if there was a plot twist and he didn't die?

My idea is that instead of dying he was just injured, separated from the group, and was forced to fight his way through zombies on his own. I think it would be very fun and interesting to have a single player DLC mission. It would be a dramatic change of pace from the traditional 4 player co-op format of left 4 dead.

In terms of gameplay instead of taking on hoards of Zombies you would take on just a few. However being old, and wounded they would put up much more of a fight. A lot of people have accused L4D2 of not being fresh enough. This mission would be a radical departure from the traditional 4 player gameplay. It would also allow valve to implement more survival horror elements and make for an interesting mission. I think this campaign should end by Bill meeting up with the rest of the survivors.

So, whats your opinion? Is this a good Idea, and if not; how could it be improved?

EDIT: Bill would be able to free himself from special infected through quicktime events.

EDIT: Sorry I spoiled the game to a few people. I personally haven't played the DLC yet and was under the impression that anyone who was on these forums knew who died already.

Can't be done. Teamwork is the core of L4D. First time Bill got tackled by a hunter would be the last.

I should have been clearer; the special infected on this mission will work in such a way that bill can free himself.

That could actually be pretty interesting. I would be fully willing to play that game. Could be a lot of fun if done right.

Yeah, have you played the passing? You actually SEE
Bills
corpse sitting there, kinda seals the deal

EDIT: And seriously, use spoiler tags, or put spoiler alert in the title, I have no doubt you've spoiled this for at least one person already, and that's really rude

It's an interesting premise that's for sure...but now that Bill's been confirmed dead it's doubtful.
But just because all the other survivors think he's dead doesn't mean it's set in stone. Maybe it would be good for Valve to mix things up and break the rules for once.

You can actually see his corpse in The Passing, so yeah, that would be pretty fucking hard to explain, lol

And ruin what makes L4D unique and great? I think not!

Could you add a spoiler box to that? Also like I said before maybe Valve should break the rules.

maybe it was someone else's corpse?

Well I was sort of going for something unique from the traditional L4D format.

You're taking the core concept of the game out though. It would be like a Halo title where Master Chief plays Dance Dance Revolution.

OK, maybe not that bad, but still. Team work is even mentioned in the title. It's what it's all about.

Besides, Valve is forbidden to work on anything except Episode 3. : /

Wait, you seriously spoiler-tagged THAT but not the name of the dead person? Do you know what spoiler tags are for?

and yeah, I added a spoiler box to mine.

So here is your idea of what happened:

1.) The new DLC (the new one for L4D1, not L4D2) in which a player dies simply didn't happen, you're just throwing that canon out the window
2.) He found a corpse that looked EXACTLY like him, dropped a gun and a medpack by it instead of taking them with him, and took off, letting the others believe he was dead for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
3.) He somehow survived being absolutely clusterfucked in the situation in which he died.

There is absolutely no way that could be explained, it would be almost as hard as giving the viewers of "Lost" closure. And even if they decided to go through the canon with an axe and just invalidate huge chunks of the story, they would do it for what? to make one of the best cooperative FPS's yet another garden variety single player FPS?

Sorry, but it's a terrible idea, even if it could be explained story wise (and it definitely can't be, that corpse was totally him, and even if it only "sort of" looked like him, it would still make absolutely zero sense)

Which we both know they aren't, sadly.

You want to make a single player FPS in order to go for something UNIQUE!?

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?

At brief thinking, it sounds good, but very very flawed. The core game would have changed dramatically.

HOWEVER.

I think it'd be kick ass if L4D1 had in the upcoming DLC, a part where bill was separated and had to fight to get to the objective or something. It'd be hella fun.

Fuck man how about a heads up about spoilers?, I read the first two lines of your post and now I know Bill is the one who dies in the passing...not cool

I think you guys are missing the point. To see why that is impossible simply ask why did Bill have to die in the first place?
