I bought it yesterday for the PC, but I can't play it yet because of extreme lag. Is there going to be a patch released soon to remedy that, because it happens even on single-player, so it obviously isn't a slow internet connection or anything?

one of the reasons i prefer the Console is because, pretty much my PC sucks. I cant deny that the ability to map controls to PC Games makes sense, but in my point of view, i feel that console controls are much more fluid because im not scrambling around my keyboard hitting buttons or constantly making room for my mouse.
Little known fact:

You can use your Xbox controller on the PC.

Actually, it's not little or anything, people just tend to dismiss it so they can somehow validate that as a point towards consoles.
Actually, how do you do that? My Xbox 360 controller is wireless so is there anyway to still connect to the PC? And if so, do I need anything like a special cable or something?

EDIT: Apologies for the double-post

I own it for the PC, as it should be.

(Damn, look 'ma I made a poem!)
So poignant too.

First Person + D-Pad = Inevitable Failure.

But we won't go into that.

I in fact own one, and was using it to play Trackmania only a few minutes ago.

Woah, let my thread go please. It wasn't a debate, just to gauge possible interest in the Left 4 Dead League [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.79315#1009128], which, incidentally, wants some more teams. Please go there.

PC in my opinion, but there will always be debate. I like it on the PC for these reasons:
1. All of my friends play on the PC
2. I have a computer that is capable of running any game on the Xbox 360/PS3 with double the framerate (or more) on highest graphics/resolution.
3. L4D is made by valve, a company which is well known for making PC games that play the best on the PC. I have heard that their Half Life 2 port onto the Xbox was fail.
4. I have not played a shooter on a console since Medal of Honor: Frontline, and I found the conrtols hard to deal with. I know it's a totally different game, but shooting on a console is just too hard for me, regardless of the game.

That's just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to theirs.

The PC is more likely to get faster/more updates as valve has shown with Team Fortress 2 (which hasn't even gotten one of the 3 character updates). I like playing console shooters a lot (Time Splitters, Gears of War, Dead Space) but valve is just able to update the PC versions of their games more.

This is what you need to connect your wireless controllers to your pc.

All "PC controls are better" aside, please note the following: PC players on Left 4 Dead are HUGE assholes.

If you go to the SteamPowered forums you'll see people complaining about team killing, random votekicking, and more. On the XBL this is non-existant.
As far as I know, the 360 version doesn't have forums. I could be wrong, but I don't think most of the console L4D players would have the attention span to go to the forums.

In saying that, I own a PS3 and 360, and I have played L4D on 360. After coming from the PC version, it doesn't feel as good. I got considerable fps lag (I don't know if that was just me, or the fact that it was splitscreen), and it didn't look as good. The controls are a bit screwy on Valve games for 360.

Also, anyone who has mention lag and the matchmaking in a bad way, I have rarely had a problem with it. I don't lag much (if at all) on the PC version, and every matchmaking on a 360 game is worse because I always get stuck with people who aren't Australian (meaning we lag).

Another advantage to the PC version is the fact that Valve will undoubtably update it with new maps, and gameplay tweaks. TF2 on console is yet to get any of the updates that the PC users have had over the past year.

Either way, it's good on both systems and definitely worth a buy.

I'm a PC gamer at heart, and I always follow my heart. Except for that one time I left it in San Francisco.

On a related note, I have a number of gamer friends, but they are all console junkies. One of them is a Sony-fanboy through and through, and the other loves his 360 so much it hurts to watch him play games on it (including having played Left 4 Dead on it). Anyways, I convinced them to come to a computer gaming lounge one day, and we played Left 4 Dead there. We have been back twice since, and the first time we went was about a week and a half ago. They simply enjoyed the PC version more, and cannot get enough of it.

I think that might say something for this debate.
