I lost mine last night, don't regret it (yet, haha. Plenty of time for that) but it wasn't an incredible, eye-opening, magical moment or anything. I'd say it was about what I expected - excellent physical gratification but limited emotional or psychological involvement (about the same as any other physical contact - cuddling, kissing, etc).

I wouldn't know since I am still a virgin... but I will say I sometimes feel that I since I am at university that it should happen soon. Also I am sometimes scared I will have stage fright since it seems that the guy is pretty much in charge of making sure it is pleasurable for both parties. I may be wrong since I don't know much about it.

Ok so I am little bit (perhaps a lot bit) over the age you would expect someone to be a virgin. I have experienced a pretty good range of feelings towards this thing. I have at some time or another felt that it is something special, that you should wait until marriage, that you should wait for love, that it doesn't matter at all, that you should wait until it's the "right" time aka subjective, and prolly some other feelings about as well. So sure it's overhyped, and also probably underhyped as well, just like most things.

If someone has lost it and doesn't regret at all, good for them. A lot of people lose it and regret it and a lot of people wait and regret not losing it sooner. If you are satisfied with how it happened, then that is really all that matters. There really doesn't need to be any shame in either being a virgin or not. I am pretty satisfied with myself at the moment.

Personally, now I am in a "eh, would be nice, but don't really give a shit" kind of mood about it. Just the way things work sometimes.

My first time was when I discovered my allergy to latex. WAY overhyped. I couldn't walk straight for three days.

I'm of the mind that sex is a wonderful thing (hey, it's tension relief, bonding, and tons of pleasure all in one!), but it's not the be-all end-all that people seem to make it out to be when you're still a virgin (or even when you're not). One of my friends is a virgin at 24, and thinks sex is going to be AMAZING when she has it for the first time. I haven't the heart to tell her that it's gonna suck the first couple times (especially for girls. Sorry ladies who can't reach orgasm... I'm one of the lucky 10% or so who gets multiples).

I'd like to say I knew. Alas, I know very few females and I am not about to throw myself sweaty and drunken into a club at the first sign of exposed flesh.

I haven't had the experience, but I'm definitely glad to wait for that moment. I'm still voting because I do think losing one's virginity is over hyped especially during the teen years. Kids and society put so much pressure on young people, and I've heard too many stories about people losing it to someone they didn't care for later.

depends on how you lose it really. If you lose it to a girl who, at the time, you really really love (even if the relationship doesn't last) then i would say that no, its not over-hyped. you'll probably have a really good time.
But just having sex with a girl who you think is kinda hot, because "everyone else is having sex"... its just not as good... or at least i can't see it being as good. i speak as if i've actually experienced this, but as of yet i still retain my 'v'.

I too am sadly still a virgin at 19 so I don't know. I did have phone sex wit my ex gf a bunch of times but I was never able to get alone with her. I do have to agree with riottrio that sex for love would be better but as for now I have no idea.
