This is what I saw when reading the OP

blah, blah, blah, boobs, blah, blah, YES! Garrus and me will be saving the universe!

Honestly I like Ashley in ME1, even though she was a ***** in ME2 because I hadn't called her once while I was dead.

Ash should've gotten over her racism by now, and in my opinion, as Christian myself her character is fucking insulting. You can't be Christain and a racist and be thought of as a logical thinking individual. Jesus doesn't condone racism. Cut your shit, Ash, and grow up. After working with Garrus and Tali and Wrex your opinion of aliens should've changed.
Except for that Ashley never WAS racist. She never idealizes humans as being superior to aliens, she never argues that aliens are lesser beings. On Virmire she has no complaint working with the Salarian team and even volunteers for the job. She also hopes for improved relations between Humans and Quarians thanks to Tali helping with Saren. She also despises groups like Terra Firma and will vocalize strongly against them. Also despite showing hostility to Liara, she still notably shows sympathy towards her in regards to the death of her mother (hinting to Shepard to go talk to Liara because 'it's gotta hurt').

In total, the only really noteworthy thing Ashley does is mention that she doesn't think humans should rely on aliens as allies because she imagines that, when push comes to shove every race will look out for the interests of their own over others. She argues not to mistreat aliens or turn them down as allies but not to also expect aliens to help out in a crisis and instead should be prepared and capable to do things like this on their own.
This is a mindset that comes from her family name being ground through the dirt due to her granfather being the only human ever to surrender to an alien race.

And furthermore, it is a mindset that she can move on from.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause any offence if I did. I just thought I'd point this out.

EDIT: Oh and before I forget, Ashley never specified a religion. She merely said that she believed in god, never said anything else specific.
Her religion, like her views were made into whatever the fanbase wanted to see them as. Even when they weren't specified as such.

Once again, people didn't LEARN about her character, they merely PROJECTED onto her instead.

This thread could be called "Garrus is back!" And it would have ten times the views.

"I'm no fan of aliens." That's the same as "I'm no fan of black people."
Racism.
Depends on your viewpoint. Ashley's distrust and dislike of aliens is based on political standpoints, not racial standpoints. She doesn't dislike them on the basis of them merely being something different to herself. She distrusts them and dislikes them based on lack of personal experience and bad family history and general political views.

It's more like someone saying:
"I'm no fan of North Korea."

She's hotter, that's for sure. However, I'll still kill her off every time I start a new game in Mass Effect. Seriously, every other line of hers expresses an utter hatred for aliens that I can't abide by.

"Drop that nuke from orbit, and Saren can kiss his Turian ass goodbye!"
We get it. You hate aliens. Are you dead yet?

Not to mention that as a Soldier, she's basically the most useless of the squad members. Honestly, Shepard should've had a dialog option early on to revoke Ashley's permission to speak at all.

Everyone wishes Kasumi was an LI but she isnt =P
My vote for Tali as much better than both old racist-***** Ashley and new probably racist-slut Ashley.
Tali supports slavery and genocide of sentient beings.
Ashley supports being careful with other races who probably have their own interests at heart.
How is Ashley the racist ***** in this scenario?
Souplex I do wonder what you would do when your computer becomes sentient and doesn't do what you say like it has for years.

The sheer fact that Legion is still alive and not floating in space trash shows that Tali isn't as racist and pro-genocide as you say.

As for Ashley she is like a different woman all together. But it doesn't matter for me because she died on Vimire because she killed Wrex. Darn you Ashley for killing Wrex
Shes dead in mine for the exact same reason.

Racist *****. You can put lipstick on a pig, still a pig.

Here here!

Tali isn't entirely pro-genocide, she just wants the Quarian homeworld back from the Geth and has been brought up (by a pretty lousy father who dies in ME2) to believe that genocide is the only way to achieve that. If you have sufficent Paragon after completing both Tali and Legion's loyalty missions, she seems to develop sympathy towards the Geth (after a Paragon speech check, anyway)

Ashley, on the other hand, is a member of the space Klu Klux Klan, going as far as to kill Wrex. I really regret letting her live and am part-way through a repeat playthrough to rectify that mistake.

Tali supports slavery?
I'll admit I'm wrong if proven so, but when the hell does Tali agree to slavery?
Does she think geth are lesser lifeforms? Yes
Does she think killing them off will free her from her second skin prison? Yes. Wait, maybe. Kinda.. I mean-
Has she ever met one that didn't want to kill her? NO

I think you can see the reason Tali's racism is understood better. It's not just her upbringing and environment. Every single time she met a geth they wanted to kill her. Ever. Single. Time.
Until Legion none of you would've given two shits about genocide of the geth. Why? Becuase they're trying to kill you!! GET 'EM DEAD! XD

Look, not to derail the thread, but Tali calls the psycho admiral that promotes slavery "insane", and now that she's working with Legion and listening to a (hopefully) Paragon Shep, her views will change too.
Ash should've gotten over her racism by now, and in my opinion, as Christian myself her character is fucking insulting. You can't be Christain and a racist and be thought of as a logical thinking individual. Jesus doesn't condone racism. Cut your shit, Ash, and grow up. Actually, no Geth had ventured beyond the veil until that whole Saren business. For the majority of her life the Geth were just minding their business.
Indeed! So she never met one in person until she met the hostile ones, which acted exactly as her upbringing and environment taught her they would, thus perpetuating her racism and making it grow stronger.

And going with the logic she met un-Reaper loving ones prior to Saren and such:
1. They attack first out of self preservation, and get gunned down.
2. You killed geth that weren't firing at you in ME (ME1 definitely, those poor praying bastards) because, through experience, you were taught they were your enemy. Replace "experience" with "upbringing and environment" and you can see why she would've attacked non-hostile geth (if she ever met them).

She says a few ugly things though like "I can't tell the aliens from the animals." While she might move past it it's always there. It looked like she ahd by the time mass effect one was ending but then in ME2 she say's "I'm no fan of aliens." At that point Miranda was looking a lot better to me. The number of people who have pointed it out seems to indicate at any rate that a great deal of people detected some prejudice. It's something they'll have to address at any rate.

In all honesty, when I first saw the Hanar... I thought it was a pot plant.
I thought the elcor was a kind of cattle.
And I kept on trying to start a conversation with the Keepers.

So yeah, I understood where she was coming from. I mean you tell me:

Sentient sapient alien race capable of space faring travel? Or a simple animal?
Not always easy to tell.

I never got the impression that she was making a racial slur, I think it was kind of a mistake to make her say that line (her writer agrees actually, he said as much) because it can too easily be made into a prejorative but I myself, never saw it that way.

there is a blue option (hard to get if you havn't made all paragon) that shuts Wrex up, but Ashley still shines through with her xenophobia. new playthrough is about 5 minutes away from shutting her up for good, thanks for asking.

Says you
You actually equate breast size with attractiveness?
Thought I'd way in on this one.

*ahem*

There is literally no way Jack could be less attractive then she already is. And I mean that on physical and personal levels.

Like she's the only one in the freakin' universe with problems...
Because I like feeling superior justifying my actions: at least I know what my LI looks like. Most people are banging someone who could look like the Predators and who wants to commit genocide because she is nerdy and vulnerable.
Hey, hey! Fellas (and Fellettes...sorry bad pun)! Calm down!

Jack went through more abuse than any other character in ME. Raped multiple times, tortured multiple times, abused multiple times, and of course betrayed multiple times.
Yes, she's contrived. So is all of Mass Effect, really. BUT, she is one of the best written characters in ME2 and absolutely real to me. Also, her romance dialogue is so fucking great I can't tell you how great it is without cussing.

Tali is also a really well written character, but again, she's only likable if you get past her superficial persona and get to know her and her history (like with Jack).

If either of these characters are given bigger breasts I'll be RAGING.

Now, can't we all get along? I love me some chicken-legged aliens personally, but we can all understand each other's appeal for the cast, can't we? :D

Well the mistake has been made, you can at least understand how some of us see it that way. That isn't a flaw in our perception but in their presentation. If they want to fix the impression they'll have to make some kind of conscious effort to do so. Also, as an aside I never had any problems. I didn't think the Elcor were cattle nor the Hanar potted plants. It wasn't hard for me. Livestock isn't kept on the presidium and if it's talking consider it a person.

EDIT:
Also your image is broken. I hope you see this edit.

Thanks for being respectful about this.

Now what I meant is, before I actually talked to a Hanar or Elcor I thought they were just animals. Given that Ashley's had no real experience with aliens prior to this, I can understand her being wierded out by them.
