I did paragon first, and then a renegade.

I found renegade to be far more enjoyable simply because of some of the things you get to do and the awesome one-liners.

Because I'm such a pushover in real life, I have a hard time being mean in games, especially to companions. BioWare just makes me feel like a jerk with the evil options. It was easier to be evil in Mass Effect than Dragon Age; DAO left me feeling guilty.

Amen to that, brother :D

I personally try to be a paragon, to be an example of good morals and that just because you can do "anything you like", you don't have to dick with people or piss all over common sense, and regulations.

I couldn't help but feel guilty every time I made a renegade decision in Mass Effect... Sometimes even going so far as to simply go neutral with my evil characters since the options seemed just wrong.(well, aside from one or two of them)

The game didn't seem to punish me in any way for being a bad guy, or good guy, but it didn't seem right. I seriously have to say paragon all the way when it comes to the mass effect franchise, since a lot of the decisions I couldn't deal with since they aren't my generic "evil" style.

At the same time, while I seriously enjoyed playing paragon in the first game, in mass effect 2 it seemed to punish me every time I decided to be a good guy. Certain actions that it claimed to be renegade, in fact seemed to be a paragon option for the "greater good" kind of deal.

And that's what my conclusion comes to: A paragon in ME 1 since it makes the paragon to be a good guy, but still treats him as simply a modest human. And a Paragon that makes Renegade decisions in ME 2, since it tries to turn shepard into a saint who "can do no wrong."

The funny part, is that in most games I am very evil. (Though usually my character RPly has good reasons for why they are evil)

I feel like a complete ass to play as Renegade, so I usually always go Paragon. I am not good at being an ass.

i was a paragon, but i chose to give over the base (oops spoiler??), idk what it is, but i trust the illusive man
Here is the thing, for me it wasn't even a choice, everything in me hated Cerberus, and in every conversation with the Illusive Man I just wanted to give him a giant "FUCK YOU" and leave... I don't know why but none of the attempts to redeem them worked for me.

Paragon, yet I can never resist headbutting a Krogan.
This was where those quicktime events haunted me, I didn't want to choose the renegade ones, but godammit when I found out that some could be that awesome I just had to, damm you Bioware!

No there isn't situations where only one applies. That's false.
Also, there will be cases of
idiots arguing
in your team. I know a few people who hadn't enough Paragon/Renegade scores there, but I never knew what the consequences were. What happens, when you can't calm people down?
During said scenarios you either have to choose one of them, or you can charm/threaten them with your points. The charming/threatening leaves everybody loyal, however choosing leaves somebody out, and they're generally pissy about it(they aren't loyal to you anymore).

OT: I was personally Paragon with a splash of renegade in the games (unique I know). My only issue with renegade is that it isn't badass... it's just being a dick, and to that I have to ask: Why?

I suppose just being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole isn't for me, now if I were evil or something I would understand but I digress.

Both! Games like this, if they deserve it, will always get at least two playthroughs for me. My first character is always a good guy, but the second is always bad and I almost inevitably end up enjoying that character more. Mass Effect was the only exception; I enjoyed them equally.

Still haven't played a male Shepard, though. I should do that.

Paragade?

I always fought for good and what I knew was right in Mass Effect, but if any even TRIED to fuck with me then I would give 'em hell.

I like to play a balance between the two. My first time through the game I ended up at about 80% on the Paragon bar and about 60% on Renegade.

There was only once, one single time, in the entire game where both the charm and intimidate options were grayed out. It wasn't either of the loyalty arguments. I ended up with everybody loyal.

I did the first playthrough as myself, which turned out to be almost completely balanced, leaning slightly in favour of Paragon. If we're going all or nothing though, I prefer Renegade - I can't stand some of that happy-smiley paragon bullshit, especially when it jeopardises the mission.

Paragon, occasionally paragade, but it is a pain in ME2 because of those moments where you have to be totally good or a real d*ck! I do enjoy some of the renegade moments in 2 like electrocuting Cathka, and as someone mentioned on the prison ship not giving up your gun is funnier as a renegade choice. And there is no reason not to tbh, your choice is neutral or renegade there, there isn't a paragon response so you aren't losing any paragon points.
I think they made it more fun to pick some renegade options in 2 but the system should be more forgiving.
At the end of the day, I am a goody two shoes though.

As much as I'd love to be a total Jerk. I just can't help being nice to people. Even if it is in games. I ended up being Paragon. A bit like the signal box at hull station.
I know, I have this problem too. I start a game and think "ok, gonna be a total bastard now" but getting to the choice where I have to save a girl's kitty from the tree, I find it hard to put the girl in a Rock-It Launcher and launch her at the cat, for all the amusement value, I'm just not that evil :<

Still in ME2, I did find it a bit easier to go along the way of a Renegade to a point, but still never all out. It did feel refreshing though to have the "I'm gonna help people, but I'm going to be a bastard to increase efficiency of it" choices in a lot of places, those I can relate to at times. My favourite playthrough RP-wise was the one where I ended up half Paragon/half Renegade, basically following the "If you're nice, I'll be nice back, if you're being a prick, we're going for a round of roshambo and I'm starting"

Renegade is fun as hell compared to Paragon. However, with Paragon, which is the one I chose first, the story feels more complete. Also, renegade options feels a little excessive sometimes (exception for the falcon punch on reporter).

So paragon it is, hero/charmer

It depends on the situation. If it's someone that I'm sympathetic to, like dealing with the colony's contract, I go Paragon. Someone that's annoying but harmless, like Conrad, I tend to switch back and forth, depending on my mood. The real bad guys though, They get to see the full force of my Renegade side.
