i was a paragon, but i chose to give over the base (oops spoiler??), idk what it is, but i trust the illusive man
Here is the thing, for me it wasn't even a choice, everything in me hated Cerberus, and in every conversation with the Illusive Man I just wanted to give him a giant "FUCK YOU" and leave... I don't know why but none of the attempts to redeem them worked for me.

Paragon, yet I can never resist headbutting a Krogan.
This was where those quicktime events haunted me, I didn't want to choose the renegade ones, but godammit when I found out that some could be that awesome I just had to, damm you Bioware!

No there isn't situations where only one applies. That's false.
Also, there will be cases of
in your team. I know a few people who hadn't enough Paragon/Renegade scores there, but I never knew what the consequences were. What happens, when you can't calm people down?
During said scenarios you either have to choose one of them, or you can charm/threaten them with your points. The charming/threatening leaves everybody loyal, however choosing leaves somebody out, and they're generally pissy about it(they aren't loyal to you anymore).
OT: I was personally Paragon with a splash of renegade in the games (unique I know). My only issue with renegade is that it isn't badass... it's just being a dick, and to that I have to ask: Why?
I suppose just being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole isn't for me, now if I were
evil or something I would understand but I digress.
