Soldier, just because it has regenerating health.
There ARE armor upgrades for that.
Yes but they stack, so you regenerate faster, like really fast if you use a high upgrade, in my experience its still one of the best abilities in the game. Plus i played Vangard first so i could still use my favorite biotic powers push and lift.

I was thinking about buying Mass Effect 2 upon its release and figured that playing the first Mass Effect game was probably a good idea (especially since it was only £3 on Steam). My problem at the moment is deciding which class to choose. At the moment I'm leaning towards Adept and Vanguard but I'm not sure whether to go with Solider instead because of the ability to carry different guns capable of dealing with any situation rather than being bound to close range.

Long story short, I need help choosing which class to go with. If you vote, please leave a reply too with the reason for your choice.

Thanks :)
Soldier is good for the first play through, as it's a pretty good starting class. However, my favorite has been and always will be Infiltrator. Right after that is Vanguard.

I love my Vanguard, close range madness along with the warp and throw abilities. Don't worry about long range, both your Biotics and Pistols have great adaptability. Plus Garrus' sniper ability can make him the finger of God and he has tech abilities as well.

I also like my Sentinel, both Tech and Biotic abilities allow you to choose who you bring in your party rather than being forced to bring along members with said abilities.

Adept, it makes the game so easy. "Oh no the enemy is behind cover. Oh yeah? I'll just pull them out with singularity and shoot at them as if in a shooting gallery."

Infiltrator

Tech abilities are seriously overpowered and the most useful thing in the game. Pistols can also be upgraded to the point where they are super accurate and will never stop firing and the recoil is not unberable like assault rifles. Your sniper rifles will be able to kill EVERYTHING (everything - even those big robot baddies) with 1 or 2 shots.

You can render every enemy on the field useless with tech powers, and even crowd control because those powers have an area of effect. You can sabotage their weapons, destroy their shields, and use "damping" to make them not be able to use their abilities - and they all have an area of effect.

Pistols do not fire as much as assault rifles but their recoil is so much more bearable that you'll be able to kill so much better with them from the early game and on. Especially with the "master spectre" one (which you unlock once you have attained 1 mil. credits I think)

With your "electronics" skills, you can get more shields than those biotic barriers, and that's just PASSIVE. You can also handle any of those salvaging and decrypting objectives and repair your mako instantly.

"immunity" makes you able to take tons of damage, if for some fucked up reason you run out of shields. "Commando" specialty also lets you improve immunity, it cools down faster and you can take up to 80%+ less damage.

I just wish I had AI hacking to get the cooldown bonuses, and the ability to control AI, but lift is a much better skill bonus skill, and is definitely a great tradeoff since you can use sniper rifles already.

Play as infiltrator - the most overpowered class in the entire game.

I've played all the classes and mastered them, and I was most impressed with infiltrator. Adept and Sentinel are the least impressive IMO. Vanguard, Soldier, and Engineer are awesome too though, but soldier is quite boring.

Either Vanguard or Soldier would be good for a first playthrough.

I personally like Vanguard, because the close-combat problem is remedied by throwing a biotic shield around you, running into the enemy, lifting them up high and them shooting them. =D

If it's anything at all like it was in ME1, I'd say adept. At mid-high levels, you can pretty much clear out a room with a wave of your hand.

Vanguard...

The most fun in my opinion, especially this time around...

I always recommend Soldier for someones first playthrough. It's the easiest class to use and offers the most protection. Definitely a good pick if you've never played the game before.

Idk, I remember my guy couldn't do any magic only did gun stuff. The magic sucked bad in that game.

I chose Adept for my first playthrough and never really looked back. I have tried all of the classes, but I found Adept the most enjoyable. The only downside was that I had to have that annoying ***** Ashley with me. But bringing Tali along made up for that quite a bit. <3

I chose Soldier. I tried the Vanguard and Adept too, but something just doesn't feel right when I can't wear heavy armor.

Carth does seem to have a habit of sneaking into other games doesn't he?
