Poll: Mayes Muses- Good or Bad?

I like her and her music a lot. Some of the songs I adore. Some I dislike. This however in my opinion is a good thing. It shows that there is variation. If it was the same thing over and over again, I would like it but it would get very stale quickly. Definately should stay here on the Escapist.

I don't watch all of her videos but when I do watch them I like what I see and hear. And she is rather attractive for a gamer girl so she definitely has that going for her

I find pretty much anything that isn't zero punctuation absolutely cringe worthy... but its not like this site is yellow, white, and black. They found yahtzee, he has talent, which means they might find someone else with talent... eventually.

I wonder how she feels about the mostly negative responses.

Personally, I find her somewhat amusing. I watched one, thought it was okay. Watched another, didn't like it. Haven't watched since.

She's talented and makes quality stuff, but most of it just isn't in the genre of music I like. So I do watch her videos now and then, usually it is a hit or miss.

I tune in every so often if she's singing about a game I recognize and for the most part have found the music entertaining and enjoyable. There are some of her songs that aren't that great, but then, that's par for the course with every musical artist.

I think she's okay, but if they took her videos away, I wouldn't even notice. I watched the first one just to see what it would bee like, and didn't like it. I watched a different one way later, and still didn't like it. Either way, it's 1,000x better than I Hit it with My Ax. Please, for the love of cake, if anything gets canceled, that should be the top of the list.

I like her music. I don't always watch her stuff, but I'm impressed when I do bother to listen.

The "Yahtzee" song didn't impress me; I don't think it was funny, or dramatic, or emotionally moving. It sounded good.

I think she was trying hard to be funny, or theatrical, or something, and whatever she was trying for, she didn't get there. But the music was still good.

Not everything has to be funny. Music doesn't necessarily have to be rock opera.

If you don't like her stuff then don't watch it? Pretty simple imo. The argument that her songs are repetitive is really a moot one, considering that most music now a days is just as repetitive.

Some are good, some aren't. Good enough to keep around, the escapist runs plenty of worse shows.

very true, sadly. this is something i've often thought about the show... i mean, if you've heard 1 or 2 of her songs, and you are familiar with the game she is singing about, then you already can make a pretty good guess as to what the song will be like in your head.

-I think if she put a little more effort into each song, stops trying the review the game in songform and instead just makes an entertaining song related to the game subject, she could be pretty good. the song should have much more effort put into it than the actual video, as the song is the real reason someone would want to watch it.

EDIT: i just watched her Yahtzee love song, and actually found it fairly entertaining, tho i do still think she could improve.

EDITEDIT: my view of her show is only based on about the first ten episodes of Mayes Muses, as i quit watching around that point, so my opinion of her may be outdated

I think you pretty much nailed my opinion in that concise sentence.

I just haven't been able to get into her songs. I find that especially her lyrics are, well, wince-inducing. So yeah, I voted horrible. But since they do appeal to a lot of other users I don't see her getting cancelled soon. Which is a pity because I'd really enjoy another Yahtzee, Moviebob or Doraleous. Oh well. Something for everyone I guess, which is why I come here in the first place.

That said: can't we just put a wig on JoCo and have him replace Mayes?

I personally have nothing against her. I tried watching several of her videos. Not entirely sure what I was actually watching but some people I guess like what she does so, yea. The Yahtzee song was the first one that didn't creep me out.

She's great...and I like her reviews, very accurate from what I've experienced of the games she's written songs about.
And as far as the OP goes, dude, you're entitled to your opinion, but don't say it like it's fact.
