My brain decided that it had enough and went on vacation. Thanks law maker!

Bahahaha. Civilized Europe? Dude, you can't even spell it right. I happen know at least one intelligent Georgian. Or maybe he was from Serbia... Anyways, just because one person does (or says) something thats fucked up doesn't mean that the entire country (or continent) is "uncivilised" as some would spell it. Just because Hitler lived in Europe doesn't make the whole continent evil. Hell, it doesn't even make Germany a bad place. Two things: Shut up and quit trolling.

Why is living in a civilized country so great anyways? Define civilized cuz the U.S. pretty much got everybody beat as far as military goes. Yes even China.
Yes you have one of the few military forces in history that fled in terror allowing an invading army to enter your captial city unapposed and burn it to the ground, and if your miltary force is so vast and powerful why did you need us to help you in Iraq? Why are you not fighting in Afghanistan on your own? Why do you need us and the rest of ISAF to help you out?

It would most likely be used to punish mothers who miscarry through drug or alcohol abuse.
Now THAT sounds like a crime.
Yeah I'd personally say that recklessly endangering your baby's life for hedonistic purposes is a crime, a pretty nasty one at that.

But my main point is that people really need a checklist before they start bashing a law, something like:

1. Do I actually understand this law?
2. Am I living in a comic book? (seriously)
3. What is this law designed to do?
4. Is my source lying? (in this case incidentally it's 'yes'. Well, it's a lie by omission)
5. Do I actually have the political and legal knowledge I need?

Not meaning to be offensive but most people on here simply do not have the training to understand legal thought. That's evident by the fact that the OP doesn't get the difference between one guy proposing a badly worded law and a huge conspiracy to kill women.
The OP didn't say anything about a conspiracy to kill women. He talking about one Georgia law maker who wanted to make miscarriages a capital crime.

Doesn't sound like a conspiracy.

According to the Omnigoogle (who was appeased through the various rites) the man who proposes this is also proposing death for abortion, wants the US currency to be reverted to gold and silver, believes public schooling is immoral, thinks that the victim in rape is the attacker, so on an so forth.

To use the technical term, a complete fucking nutjob.

Ergo, he's a sexist moron. This law will NEVER get passed, as abortion is still legal in many states, and it's kinda hard to jump from legal to the death penalty. Not to mention that you know, 50% of the country is female, and if this law got passed there would be such an outcry, and no politician who EVER wants to get part of that voting base (read as: half of all the votes in a state/county/ect) would support it.

In other words, no big deal, crazy asshole, giving it publicity will just make it worse, move along.

There is this thing called politics. You don't sound like the kind of person that would understand it but i'll do my best explaining its rudimentary elements. The U.S. doesn't go oppressing poor little Iraq all by themselves, that would appear cruel. Instead they ask several of the more prominent (READ: European) members of the global community to join their party and all of a sudden it becomes a peace-keeping operation. Now the U.S. doesn't look like the Roman empire because they have friends doing the same thing. Why would you leave your capital city undefended? Because who wants to be responsible for a massacre over one city? Would you leave your out-numbered soldiers to die defending some buildings? Did you get all of that? And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against your country (unless you live in Britain), just you personally.

I meant his source, the MSNBC video. They use the phrase 'a war against'. Though the OP's original wording referred to 'lawmakers' rather than one person which significantly changes the nature of the story.
That is true. Using MSNBC as his source was rather irresponsible on the part of the OP, and he should have made sure not to use the plural form of lawmaker.

I tend to agree with some of the stuff said on MSNBC, but even I recognize that a good portion of it is a crock of shit.

Ah yes, more pro life old men in denial about their old age lashing out against women for something that is not in their control. While previous post have stated a good point in which
" Miscarriage by Drug or Alcohol" abuse should be the only people affected by the law, one should not be put to death for it. That would be killing two people when it could have been just one.
My thoughts, this law is bad. Thankfully though its only one person trying to pass it and the person may look back and think "you know what this might not work the way i want it to..." and trash it. We can only hope... and im sad there are 26 people who voted miscarriages should die... im hoping that most were as a joke.

What the...?

Yes, because a Mother really wants to go through the physical and emotional pain of something she cannot control and be punished for it.

This is so stupid, I have no words.

On a posative note; it would never go through and become illegal, no ones that retarded.
Perhaps they're talking about mothers who purposefully induce miscarriages.

They are. Read my post above.
This is for both of you.

Where do you draw the line though, what if someone didn't know they were pregnant for, say 14 weeks, (this is more commen than you think) and got so drunk every weekend she lost the baby?

She'll be accused of killing something she never knew she had.
That does raise a tricky question. I guess they would have to determine whether or not the mother was aware of herself being pregnant.

So we put mothers to death for something that is not in their control? For something that's completely natural? Really? WHY?!

This is why I hate the extreme right wing - so many of them are religious nutjobs. You can't blame me for saying that, because you know deep inside that it's true :p
OT: This guy is an idiot for pushing this legislation. He's wrong, and it obviously won't get through. If it does though, I think I might cry.

"I'm so sorry for your loss Miss, I can't even begin to imagine how awful you're feeling. Now sit in this chair and I'll warm up the lethal injection, there's a good girl."

If this sentence doesn't seem to make much sense, then congratulations! You're sane.

OK first the role of a soldier is to fight and if neccessary die to defend people who can't defend themselve. You fight to defend your city not to protect the pretty pretty buildings but to make sure the people inside the city have a chance to save themselves from the invading soldiers. As for poor poor Iraq the reason why few prominent countries joined you in you peace-keeping (I have never seen the English language more grossly applied)is because their politians all saw that this was about retaliation not to topple a Hussain and free the people, hence why my former prime-minister has been answering some very difficult questions at a number of hearings to see if Great Britian's involvement in Iraq was justified, if not somebodies going to have to get himself a good barrister. The tragic irony of Iraq being that the speading uprisings going on in North Africa and the Middle East right now it is more than possible the Iraqi people would have risen up on their own to topple him. So many lives lost in the name of democracy, a system that can and has gives powers of responsabilities to men who want to kill women for something beyond their control.

So does the fact that a few people want this absurd law to be passed means all Americans suck? Thats some pretty shitty logic.

Iraq had nothing to do with democracy. The government might have made a nice presentation saying this but there were a lot of ulterior motives. Most people in this country (and yours too) can't see past lies presented by those in authority. I'm not defending the war, I'm saying the one with the biggest stick makes the rules. There is really no such thing as "humanity" per se. Humans are not automatically rewarded rights because they were born. We're not in Star Trek were we all fight for the common good. When I said peace-keeping I was being extremely sarcastic. There's no such thing as an armed peace-keeper. Using the threat of violence to keep the peace is self-defeating. As for the Miscarriage law? A few extremist want a bill passed... Its not like they don't have crazy people in England too. (you guys just know how to hide them better I guess)
