Poll: Modern pistol or revolver?

A revolver, of course. You can't go Dirty Harry on someone without a revolver.

You can if you're a fan of Sudden Impact. He lost the revolver and switched to "the forty-four Magnum automatic, and correctly used, it can remove the fingerprints." There's a lovely moment when one of three hoodlums freezes, stares up the street for a moment and swears, and the camera switches to a silhouette of Harry with a ludicrously big pistol in his hand and about down to his knee.

Judging by release dates of the Desert Eagle and that film and the fact the Desert Eagle was the first, I assume that's what it was.

AussieSniper: I liked that Browning when I fired one. No malfunctions, tight groups, good feel, no issues with recoil or brass.

Michael_ab: I presume you're talking about a pump-action shotgun.

Sorry, it can be gotten in .45 though but primarily is a 9mm. The gun itself, in Damascus steal, is a little bit expensive at around $12,000 and hence tends to be just a show piece though it is a fully functional weapon. Produced by Intertech it really doesn't have anything special going for it to warrant the price range though, aside from being custom made instead of mass produced. It is just a beautiful weapon that you would willingly display to show those disbelievers that firearms are also designed for beauty.

That is the thing, you can easily break people into two sorts: Those who would be scared of a firearm and those who will not be. Those who will be scared of a firearm don't need something like a DE to scare them off, a model 317 revolver would be enough! All they will see is a barrel and know that death comes from there, the bang would be secondary and will sound loud to these people regardless of the actual size of calibre.

Those who are not scared of firearms are not going to be scared off just because the gun your holding make a louder bang then a smaller handgun. Most are even in the know, understanding that the louder bang is a disadvantage and screams "I only have limited ammo capacity." They are the sort which will respect a 9 mm glock over a DE, seeing that gun will be able to put more holes in them faster, with more accuracy, and likely not over-penetrate.

Over-penetration is a big thing people overlook: Less damage is caused when the bullet passes clean through a person.

Im more of a revolver man myself, they just so smooth and stylish, also the way you can see the barel turning when you fire a bullet.

Over-penetration is a big thing people overlook: Less damage is caused when the bullet passes clean through a person.

when i look for a gun i tend to avoid factoring in its lethality, killing someone is not high on my list of things to do

if i DID wanna kill someone i would get creative... a falling wall of high voltage wire sounds fun... or a pit-o-death

this is more an argument of beauty (usually revolvers) over functionality (modern pistols)
