Grand Theft Auto got....boring after when San Andreas came out which proves that bigger doesn't always mean better.

.
I would have to disagree, San Andreas is one of my all time favorite games. I loved the scale of it. Sure it had a lot of extra stuff but it was all optional; even some of the story missions were optional.

I don't know how Resident Evil didn't get on your list (just for RE4) but that's why I voted Other. RE4 was a really nice looking game but I never got why it was such a big deal. I've always had more fun watching someone else play a RE game than playing it myself.

I hear about Final Fantasy all the time and the crappy movies of it as well! The games were alright and the story's are better than usual but it really isn't anything special except the animation. All your other choices I only find info about them here so I couldn't say they are overrated.

I'm itching to vote for some games here, but the truth is, they're just the games *I* didn't like. I know people who love every Final Fantasy game and see sublime narrative genius where I see clumsy overwrought melodrama. I know there are a lot of people who think Metal Gear Solid is the perfect game, where I think if you're going to fill 60% of your game with cutscenes you should at least make the cutscenes good. Gears of War (1) had combat that thrilled me hardly at all (a grey man shooting bullets at grey enemies in a grey landscape and trying not to shoot his grey allies, who look exactly like his grey enemies, by accident - wonderful) and characters and dialogue that made me gag, no matter how much I tried to believe it was tongue-in-cheek. God of War (2) felt like a challenge to break the Guinness World Record for pressing the same combination of three buttons in order without throwing the controller down in disgusted boredom.

But I can't call any of them bad games with a clear conscience, knowing how many people love them. They're not for me, but they're good games for other people.

And I wish a few more of the Halo/GTAIV bashers would show the same respect.

Metal Gear wasn't that big until Metal Gear Solid was released.
Mainly because the only Metal Gears people outside of Japan had access to before Metal Gear Solid were crap.
(BTW fixed your typo)
Sam Fisher is MIA.
That is true but none-the-less
Metal Gear is under
Metal Gear Solid is over
When the creator of the game and the genre says a game is crap (because it doesn't fucking adhere to the damn genre), it is crap. Metal Gear on the MSX2 was a brilliant game and worthy of the name Metal Gear. Metal Gear on the NES was not.
I would disagree. I loved Metal Gear on the NES.

Gears of war came out before 300, so.... yeah. I blew a great big hole in your argument there :p.
300 was a graphic novel that came out in 1998, eight years before Gears of War. I just blew a great hole in your argument there.

Edit: Almost forgot, HAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

for me it would be the final fantasy series i mean seriously the past games are decent FFT,6,FF7,9 and yes even 8 was better compared to the more recent final fantasy (cough... cough...) 12! the story was uninspiring the gameplay made me sleep more than watching golf on TV, the characters we're boring and some of them we're just in it for the ride. I'm not even looking forward for FF13 i mean seriously recently "squeee nix" seem to be focusing more on effing sugarcoating CG movies/graphics rather than the story and the gameplay. good graphics and CG movies doesn't make a good game.

A difficult choice between halo and MGS. and then I saw FF, so that made it harder. I can't even remember what I voted for :p

At the risk of sounding like a parrot I feel compelled to say Halo.

Admittedly the concept was original, and I give Bungie full credit for plugging the Halo series for all the money it could spew out. To give an analogy, because I've grow slightly obsessed with them(analogies that is).

Halo is the new guy to come to school, who no-one has ever met before. He's good at telling jokes and at first you get everyone laughing hilariously, so more and more people start listening to him.
His jokes start to dry up but he has a great idea, redress the jokes with a modern slant to make them more interesting. Pretty much everyone still thinks their funny, but a few people start to see where this is going but laugh along because the joke still sound relatively good.
Time passes and the novelty start to ware off again, so he tries the same trick the jokes look even better but when people start to look close and see the same jokes dressed up again. But a lot of people still like it so most go along while some denounce it completely. But as this kid keeps repeating him the clever ones break out the baseball bats and clobber him to the consistency of minced meat.

In this case Bungie make a mould of an RTS and press the minced meat into it, this is at a point where the meat is starting to rot and excrete a strange juice, make a strange smell and everyone's beginning to think that Bungie are going a bit blind and lost their sense of smell.

Now everyone looks back and they start to think, hey that wasn't really that good was it. Now Bungie are chucking half-baked sequels to sedate the clamouring mob and distract them.

How could u say Haze, it aint even popular, so how could it be overrated??? Anyway, my vote goes to Halo.
It was overrated before it came out, even though no-one knew what the hell it was about.

I would say Halo mostly because the ration of its popularity in comparison to its quality is larger than any of the other titles on the list. I'm also not a big shooter fan, which could be why I never got into the game. But even friends of mine who will play any first or third person shooter out there can't stand it, which speaks more to me of its overall quality in the genre. And despite not really like shooters, I liked the Half-Life games. The puzzle aspect of the games kept me intrigued.

Yes, but I would call that over-hyped, not overrated.
