Myth he wasn't a war hero. During the war he declined to enlist so he can make his show.
Wait are you saying that It's a myth he was a hero, or a myth that he wasn't?
A myth that he was. http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/mrrogers.asp

Honestly, it sounded like all of them were speaking with a little tongue-in-cheek. And I blame the self-esteem protection and inflation trend that has been steadily increasing in the public schools over the last couple decades. You don't build up self-esteem by removing rewards for excellence and artificially holding everyone at the same level, you do it by recognizing excellence, skill and talent and creating an environment that encourages competition and helps people to find what they are good at and rewards them for pursuing excellence in that.

Fox is not a legit new source. It's about as legit as The Onion but with a much smaller sense of humor.
CBS, MS/NBC [should be MSNBC], ABC and CNN are no more legit than Fox. News is a report on what has happened without bias, when you are told what happened and then how the person feels or what they think about it then it is commentary. Differentiate between the two forms before disqualifying a channel out of hand. All of the "News channels" host a mix of news shows and commentary shows and the inclusion of commentary shows which disagree with your own opinions in the channel lineup does not negate or inflate the legitimacy of the news presented in the news shows.
No, Fox is much more focused on the sensational and controversial aspects than any of the others besides CNN. MSNBC is pretty close but not as bad. Besides, the only truly reliable sources are PBS newscasts and BBC for the most part.

here's a few articles

http://www.galeschools.com/article_archive/2007/04/esteem.htm

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/02/27/study_finds_students_narcissistic/
Neither of those are studies, one of them is about a study but doesn't link to it making it impossible to actually review the study itself (or more importantly see how other professionals in the field have reviewed it). Now since statisitcscan be twisted to say anything and studies can be done to prove anything this makes these links worthlwess from a scientific standpoint. Additionally the lead researcher for the study referenced seems to have written a book on how teenagers are narcissits, which leads me to doubt it's validity.

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-power-prime/201006/popular-culture-americas-self-esteem-problem <- yes that is psychology today. A respectable source
Only relevant with something proving beyond reasonable doubt that teenagers (and no other part of society) are getting significantly more narcissistic.

I could find more if you want
Please don't bother, you couldn't find anythig in the first wave I doubt there's much relevant for a second or third.

also, there's the work of this DR. http://www.jeantwenge.com/
Now this is more useful, it linked me to a place that linked me to a place that linked me to place where I could actually read the research in question. Provided I was a registered member. I'm not so not all that helpful.

P.S. Here's that philosopher you wanted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALf2HZsGtGQ
Once again, research first, the explanation of why it's bad. You've got one but without the other, it's not relevant.

You guys do realize Fox News was reporting a study done by a university right? As in, they were having a slow news day, so they covered a mildly interesting story?

The mindless, rabid hate on Fox News on every thread is getting pretty disturbing.

Oh God! I watched old Mr. Rogers reruns when I was 3-4! I'm going to be a failure! God damned Fox and their pseudo-science. It's TV. Even 3 and 4 year old's don't take TV seriously. What's the big deal?

Why didn't Mr. Rogers say, "Hey, you need to work to earn your keep, you miserable lazy sod?"

Because it was a kids show! And if you can't grow out of the mentality that we ALL had at the age when we watched Mr. Rogers, then I think it's YOU that has the problem.

And it's FOX and Friends, so that shoots down its credibility quite a bit if you ask me.

Mr. Rogers always did freak me out (no human is ever that calm, much less all the time) but Fox takes the Evil Cake here.

That's kind a jerky thing to do. Easy to insult the dead. Fox can go shove a potato up it collective ass.

Oh my GOD!

I'm sorry, this is just... *waits for American Mothers to freak out*

But seriously... Has it come to the point where things in USA is so bad that they have to blame friggin Mr. Rogers for the country going to shits? Holy crap! Whats next? Seriously, we have some discussion value here; who/what will the media/government blame next?
My guess is the Tellietubbies for inciting religious riots.

Rogers (may he rest in peace) doesn't deserve this for trying to teach children to be themselves.

Fox is full of shit, Rogers has done nothing wrong. I can't believe anybody would even think of doing a study like that.

Oh come one just because Fox said it you're all flipping out when for years people have been saying he's creepy, he's a pedophile, and "hello neighbor" was the evilest phrase. Get off Fox people and start realizing the hypocrisy on you all
.. Who the fuck says that? I have never heard that in the entirety of my existence.

Mr. Rogers was my hero during childhood. Goddamnit, he was GOOD!
