I'm an aussie but I don't hate NZ. I think it's an amazing country. I live in S.A. which is about 99% desert. NZ is diverse, green, and exotic in my eyes. I am fascinated by the Maori culture and how thoroughly it's absorbed into your identity, like slang words as well as the good old hakka before sports events.

We get called convincts or colonists (thanks, UK. Much appreciated) so I know how it feels.

(We even had to invent the 6 Nations just so the other big teams could have a turn winning something, hence no NZ, Australia or South Africa!)
Presumably then you haven't heard of the Southern Hemisphere Rugby Union.
That was my point, I've got no interest in the Tri Nations.

Edit: Seeing as I don't live in Australia, NZ or SA why would I give a toss? The Six Nations was what the Home Nations became, it was a British tournament, then France and Italy joined in. (Probably a mistake, seeing as France won this year.)
Your original assertion 'We even had to invent the 6 Nations just so the other big teams could have a turn winning something' was refuted, so you then pretended that because you 'don't live in Australia, NZ or SA why would I give a toss?' but you obviously do care about it, otherwise you wouldn't have made the initial comment. Also not only was the Home Nations not purely British since Ireland had a team, but it's been actively encouraging other countries to participate for decades. If you genuinely believe that inviting other teams to participate is a mistake because they might win then I shudder at what you must think good sportsmanship is.

Plus the best rugby team in the world... You bastards.
The 'Boks relocated to NZ? Why don't people tell me these things when they happen?
It's hard to argue with whoever holds the WC currently, but by that merit England were "the best team in the world" circa 2003, doesn't mean we always were/will be.
Considering their IRB ranking at the same time, yes, they were... or at least Wilkinson was. Looking at that team's performances with and without him, he made that team what it was.

It's not just WC wins... The All Blacks have also struggled to get over the Boks during the Tri Nations as well.

I'm not saying this because I don't like the ABs. Unless they're playing the Wallabies I always cheer for the All Blacks. They're a great team with a great heritage but I think 'best' is a bit beyond them at the moment. Otherwise you might as well argue the Welsh national team is the best because of their international dominance back in the days when dinosaurs roamed.
Fair point, it was a bit of a sweeping statement. If this was a thread about Rugger I would have out a bit more thought into that, but to be honest I was just listing good things about NZ.

As for Wilko... I wish I could contradict you, I really do, but while the rest of the world have managed to adapt to England's playing style over the last 7 years, we fall to pieces whenever he is (frequently) injured. Even when he isn't fielded for whatever reason some other bugger tries to emulate him, and it never works. I really hope to see some England tries next year rather than just mindlessly hoofing it whenever we get possession.

I don't hate people just because they are from NZ. Some of my best mates are from NZ. I just find sheep shagging jokes extremely entertaining.

Christ almighty, do the words "tongue" and "cheek" mean anything to you?

As I said above, this isn't a rugby thread so I had no intentions of going into detail about the history of the game or Irish devolution for that matter, that would have only served to alienate anybody else reading who wasn't interested.

I think the '07 RWC showed the... negative influence... his talent had on the game. NO TRIES SCORED IN THE FINAL! What the fuck is that about? If I wanted to watch games decided by who could kick the ball between sticks the most I'd watch the AFL. The only real thing of interest to me in the '07 RWC was how massive Argentina's improvement between cups had been.

Also, England will eventually adapt to it all. Took the All Blacks a couple of years to adjust after Grant Fox (who was a better kick for position than Wilko, IMO) retired.

Also, next RWC better have Tonga and New Zealand play each other. Sure, the Tongans will get rolled but shi'pe'ti(sp?) Vs hakka pre-game is FUCKING OFF THE WALL.

I hope so mate! Typical English attitude though, living on past-glories and never trying to better ourselves as a team.

Looking forward to the RWC though, more so than the footy.

Certainly they do, but your continued attempts to defend your assertions betray your lack of irony.

You still did though, even though it wasn't pertinent to the issue.

Since Ireland isn't a part of Great Britain I have no idea what Irish devolution has to do with the subject, presumably it's as irrelevant as your reference to the Home Nations.

Look, you made a point that was refuted, you attempted to save face by pretending you didn't care when you obviously did, so you tried to dig your way out of that, but you got shot down again. Just get over it.

I really can't think of anything bad to say about New Zealand right now, I can talk about it's history, but that shall be a story for another thread.

I like New Zealand. You've got Maori people, and in the vernacular of today's youth, they're freakin' badass.

I'm an Australian but I think you guys are great. I seriously can't think of anything bad to say about the country.

Nationalism is bloody stupid sometimes.
I don't know many Australians that really hate NZ, it's just a fun joke between each other. Anyone who actually hates them has missed it completely. You should see the Australian and Nz army get together, they tease the crap out of each other but in the end like them alotmore than most other defence forces, if not all. We are all ANZAC after all.

It's a friendly rivalry that sometimes gets taken out of hand/ context.

Also to op, you do occasionally get the ignorant American who will believe anything you tell them about Australia such as riding kangaroos and wrestling crocodiles as past times, I guess it'd be worse I'm NZ.

I hate New Zealand because it gave me the most abundantly unsexual accent on Earth. I'm friends with a Brit and an American and they pick girls up solely because of their accents which while mundane in their countries are absolute diamonds here. Heck, I even find the british guy's sister monstrously attractive because of it.(also because she's HOT)
