I got nothing against people from NewZealand. Played with one guy from NZ when I played WoW(European server: Turalyon). He was a nice guy.

Coming from an Aussie point of view (I cant speak for Kiwis but have some as friends)sometimes Aussies take the jokes too far, and sometimes Kiwis cant take a joke but overall it is supposed to be a friendly rivalry between Aussies and Kiwis bred thru a history of fighting together in war and against each other in sport.
I would share a beer with any Kiwi who treated me with respect.
I dont know any Aussie that outright hates someone for being a Kiwi but I have met some people that hated a particualar Kiwi (on more than one ocassion) because that person was a d**k head.
Having said that there are plenty of d**k heads in Australia and every other country has them too.

It's not that people hate New Zealand, it's that they totally hate that your not where they are.
Lol, I liked Whale Rider. I don't have anything against New Zealand. I mean, Austrailia's the one who 1. released rabbits to screw up the entire countrie's ecosystem, 2. elected Michael Atkinson(as an American I know what your retort will be), 3. have hordes of horribly poisonous animals, 4. all that Lost Generation and other fun Aborigines stuff, and 5. were descendents of criminals(I know that that's a common misconception).

Well i don't have anything against New-Zealand. If i am correct a lot of LotR was filed there. Nice landscapes. Aaaand that's about all i know about N.Z.
So yes, stereotypical Eastern Europe countries do get misunderstood. A lot of people (most of whom are out of Europe) do really think that those countries are still the way they used to be: no technology and all muddy roads, everyone riding a old Russian car of some sort, etc etc etc.
Most countries get this treatment, some a lot, some not so much.
But yeah, what i'm trying to say is that New-Zealand ,like other countries, get this treatment since people don't know a lot about them. But hey, i say: it's their problem, and if they want, i can update them on the current state of my country.

Heh. And heh again. Try telling people that you are from a ex-communist Eastern Europe country that most have never heard of before (in my case, Estonia). Basically, the same problem. Once when a Exchange Student Program advertised going abroad at my school, they warned us all that we have a high chance of getting questions like "Do you know what the Internet is?" ,"have you ever seen a mobile phone?" or other such things, and that when people ask these things, they aren't joking. It's quite funny (the Internet question) since my country is actually so small that it wasn't hard for several companies provide WiFi everywhere. I mean that every bit of land where you are, you are able to play some WoW or browse the net. Even in the middle of the bloody swamps.LogieBear said:

My sister lives in New Zealand and, not to be rude or anything, the standards of living there are a bit below the ones here. Nice place to be and to live, to be sure, but a bit more difficult to live. That said, I love it there.

New Zealand is one of my favorite countries ever since I heard of Flight of the Conchords (the band, not just the TV-series)
