It's not "holding back content" for you, it's giving a bonus for people who bought it new. It's incentive, and new games need it.
No, it's holding back content. Whether new games need it or not is debatable, but it's still denying content to paying customers.

Giving bonus to paying customers would be 20,000 in game dollars very early on, or easy access to a good weapon. One of the CoD games gave players a high level gun at level one, that sort of shit is incentive.
Nope, its incentive to paying customers.

If you designed it to be an incentive to get people to buy it on a platform, its not holding back content. If its cut from the game and sold to you, that's holding back content.

There is a difference.

Why wouldn't I? Ya, there is bonus content I'll never be able to play, but the game still looks awesome and reminds me a bit of Mafia 2, only with a better story and hopefully a better world to explore.

"Your mom hates us" was EA. EA have less to do with Rockstar than Team Ico do with Konami - at least Team ico and Konami exist on the same continent.
No, that was just EAs marketing handle. Unlike EA: Moms (and the entire Fox News audience) actually do hate Rockstar Games.

I think that the Nordic edition contains most of the pre order DLC in the game. Dunno why we should get it though..

Yeah, it pisses me off. Each time it happens (Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood), I keep feeling like it's the PS3 saying "You want this content? Well too bad! You didn't pay extra for the console that truly matters!"

Why the hate, PS3? Why?

[sub]Still getting the game, though. C'mon, it's L.A. Noire.[/sub]
All these complaints are moot when you remember all the stuff that 360 gets exclusively. That's just how it is.
Yep, all the Halo, Gears of War, Fable, and Alan Wake that I could ever want...

Except for the fact that the only game that I have out of that list is Alan Wake.

I get what you're saying, but it's still stupid. In the end, it comes off as a childish maneuver to increase spite between the two markets when it already has enough of it.

With shit like the PS3 version of Arkham Asylum where you got to play as the Joker in the challege maps or I think the new Mortal Kombat has the classic Scorpion costume for Xbox. When they start taking out actual important parts of games then I gotta call bullshit. LA Noir seemed cool when I first took an interest in it but as it gets closer to the release date I just have a gut feeling that its gonna suck. My feeling is unfounded but I do have it and I tend to trust my gut more often than not.
Scoprion costume is for people who pre-order. Actually, its the PS3 version that gets more, ie Kratos as a vs mode character. (I personally DONT want a cross-over character ruining it)

Yeah, it's ridiculous, the whole video game thing is becoming ridiculous, the moment someone says they own a PS3 a million people say it's for fags, and vice versa for the 360, and then the companies pull THIS SHIT and it only makes it worse. Even if it's not a "plot important mission" it's still MORE CONTENT for one system that could easily have been on both. Like if they released dissidia 012 for the 3DS, but you don't get feral Chaos, and half of the alternate outfits are missing for no other reason than "you got it for the 3DS".
That is the textbook definition of a spoiled brat. That "If I can't have it, no-one should get it". Its not that its giving some people extra content, no, its all about you being deprived of content. So its only "fair" when no-one gets anything.
You keep on turning to personal attacks in this thread. That's totally unnecessary. This isn't about entitlement.

Here's my view on it.

I see a practice that I abhor (and it has much more to do with retailer exclusives that make it impossible for even the most dedicated Collector's Edition preordering fan to get the full experience that's available at launch). I hate this, but beyond that, I worry about the future if such practices are supported. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that more and more content is going to be withheld, because it's good for the developers and publishers as a business if they can do so and make a profit. Because of that, I will not buy the game. I, and others who won't be buying the game (at least not new), want to (however futile it may be) try to make it unprofitable for them to do this.

Both producers and consumers have a right to act in their own best interests. If a game company can make more money by withholding and splitting up content, then I can't blame them for doing so. But it doesn't make the consumer a "spoiled brat" to act in their own best interest as well.

yet another reason for people to pirate instead of buying the game. i wasnt all that excited for this game as it is, so now i have even less reason to pour my money and effort into getting the FULL game.

yeah, not buying it.

Thats a slippery slop fallacy. Thats the same argument that allows conservatives to say gay marriage will lead to kiddy rape.

Oh, and the "practice you hate" is giving loyal fans free content. How dare they give something nice to their fans. You keep using stupid assumptions, like you assume this content was supposed to go to everyone but was divided up, instead of created as an extra for fans, which was the actual case.

If you can give me a non-personal way to say tha a person is basically saying "If I don't get it, no-one should be allowed to enjoy it", be my guest. But only a spoiled brat acts that way, thinking that another person getting something somehow diminishes them.
It's not a fallacy because we've seen the rise of DLC over the past decade and its uses to give an incentive for people to preorder games or buy from certain retailers or for certain platforms. We've seen instances of content that was already on the disc being cut and then offered as Day One DLC or a preorder bonus. We haven't seen anything linking homosexuality with kiddie rape. The trends with DLC over the this console generation are make me think this way, and that's why I'm not generous enough to give companies the benefit of the doubt and say that they just created something extra for fans. People and companies act in their own best interest. That's not evil, that's just good sense.

I don't look down on other people for getting the game because I'm not blind to the fact that I can be wrong, or maybe they just have good reasons for disagreeing with me. If you want to buy the game and enjoy it, then by all means go ahead. Not once did I say if you do so then you're anything less than me.

Eh, I can dig it.

So long as they're side stories that only enhance the plot, I don't see the harm.

They're a business. Yeah, I'd prefer if they kept all the content together, but I don't really care if they go this way with it either.
