No, Majora's Mask was way better.
In some ways, yes. In many ways even. But Majora's Mask is still just half of the same game housed in a different box.

Oh and for all of you who want to know JUST how biased I am, I stopped counting how many times I beat OoT somewhere in the 700s

ok, its gonna be hard to find a n 64 if you dont already have, but if have/get one, then get the game. if you have any respect for fantasy actio and some slight puzzle and somewhat a phenomanal story line, then youll love It

No. Unfortunately, I have only beaten it a few times since I was little when we had the N64 and until recently, being last year, I never had the motivation to beat it, until the realization hit me that i had never played the game wholeheartedly, and I had only seen it beaten once, and I already thought it the best game ever. In a huge blast of nostalgia, I started the game over and went through the game from the start, and could barely put it down until the end. I remember the first time I played the game. I was around four or five and we rented the game from a small movie/game rental place called Downunder Video. I remember the first time I played, the person who had it before was on Jabbu Jabbu's belly. I rented it several times later, and eventually got the game. A year or two later, my brother beat it, and then when I was around 9, he gave the N64 away, not yet realizing the console's legendary quality. We struggled to get Ocarina of Time Master Quest on Ebay, and succeeded. The game was barely used (astonishingly.). Over the next few years, I diddled with the game, until last year, Freshman year in High School, I was determined to beat the game. Since I was six, that game was pretty much the greatest thing ever to me. My pride last year in beating it confirmed my thoughts of the game. It is still my favorite game ever, and that will never change. In my opinion, it is the best game ever made and that will always stand.

It depends when you played it. If i'd played it at launch (what i did with Metroid Prime for instance, which I love as much as people love OoT) then it deserves it's credit. But if you play it now, a lot of people will be biased.

I'm not making any sense am i? ;(

It's definately a fantastic game, but not even close to the best game ever. Not even the best in the franchise even.

But it WAS a fantastic game that came in at a time when gaming took a daring step in the direction of new design, gameplay and controll schemes and it was one of the very few to fully grasp the new technology and make the absolute most of it, something that hasn't really been done since then. Of course, there was Blizzard and Valve bringing online competitive gaming to perfection and then Halo bringing THAT notion over from the PC crowd to the consoles brilliantly, but after that the flow of innovation that had been the 90 and the early last decade to games grew smaller and smaller. I mean there still are some developers and companies trying new things and in some cases even doing fairly a good job of it, but only on a relativly small scale, because the next defining step just hasn't been made yet that would provide an equal opportunity to that one that Ocarina had.

However, there were some aspects of that game that just weren't fun. If anybody here liked the water temple I would like to believe that they are legally considered masochistic. The fixed views of some of the larger rooms was incredibly annoying (i.e Hyrule Castle and Fire Temple rooms). But to say that its overrated is a bit much, because it truly was an influence to gaming for most people.
When you say masochistic, do you mean pleasure in self-denial or boredom? Something like that, not entirely sure what the word means.

Anyway your legally full of it, it took me a bit longer to get through that temple but I had a lot of fun doing it and there is something wrong with you if you didn't like Dark Link.

I suspect most of those clicking 'yes' will be younger gamers who missed out on playing it when it first came out.

It is nearly perfect, yes.
If they would remake it in todays graphics, it would be perfect

And the 3D-thing isn't the point, it's the gameplay!
I think making it in todays graphics would ruin the... idk, artistic simplicity to it.

OY: No, it disseerves the praise it gets, it defined video gaming, it was such a magnificent idea, and was carried out as such.

any game that they say that is the best ever is over rated (look at Halo 3 they said ITS BEST EVAR !!!!1!!!! and now they say the same thing about CODMW2 like Halo never existed)

Hey! This is the first time I've seen so many people say it's not all about the graphics! It makes me so happy.

Anyway, there are two games in history that are perfect. Portal, and Zelda Ocarina of Time. I'd have to say the Zelda series, as repetitive as it is, is fun to this day because of the stories. They may be childish, but everyone has a child inside of them. They provided me to this day the majority of my playing time in my video gaming career.

The gameplay was amazing (just like every other zelda. Why mess with a formula that is just plain awesome?). I can't wait until the next main console Zelda is released.

Overrated? Pssh!

It was a very good game, but some people point to it as the holy grail of gaming. I don't see how it's so much better than say, Super Mario 64.

Havent played the older Zelda games and GB/DS games, have played OoT, MM, WW and Twilight Princess, and my personal opinion is that all those game are bloody awsome, well worth the hype etc, but if i had to choose a number 1 amongst them i would choose OoT hands down.

They did remake it with today's graphics. It's called Twilight Princess. Because every Zelda game since the original has merely been a well crafted variation on that game's formula.

Nothing like OoT. If we are going to talk about formula then what game hasn't used the same formula over and over? The only one I can think of is Shadow of the Colossus.

The only way to make this game PERFECT is to take Navi out of it and update it to 3D graphics

(Navi is SO annoying :p)

it was no more overrated than mw2 is , at the time the game was at the limits of the technology at the time
