I support, and LOVE it. Seriously, bring that to the USA. Crimes would drop like a sniper shot over 500 miles!
more like a bullet hitting a steel wall

Wait, so they're going to behead him then crucify him?

That seems a bit unnecessary. Not because it's inhumane or anything, but because he's already dead after the whole beheading.
Seriously. The priorities seem a bit messed up here.
Couldn't they be original and do both at the same time or something?
Now that would be interesting.
Imagine:
While the man is at the cross some guy will be throwing franciscas towards his throat.

Personally I'm for capital punishment for unjustified murders and if the criminal was inhumane to his/her victim(s) he/she should also be inhumanely punished.
Chopchop (both arms gone). Chop (and away with the head).
No long delay between the limbs and the head, though.
And only when it's proven, of course.

It's more a threat this way. Don't do bad or else...
Combine that with cameras recording every public square centimetre so no criminal could escape the consequences, crime rates should lower drastically.

I voted wrong. I thought he only molested one kid but then I saw that he raped five and left one for dead! He deserves it.

Well...this is rather weird
Hmm well they might see it as an eye for an eye as leaving a child for dead could be seen by that court as murder probably.
Wait, wouldn't eye for an eye mean they have five children rape him? Oh, and then they leave him in the desert to die. Hmmm... something is wrong with that idea. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Anyways, I don't think we should really judge this here. The only thing I'm concerned about is the lawyer thing. I mean, what if he didn't do it? If he did, then I say what ever. He's a sick bastard.

Funnily enough, we talked about pedophilia during my psychiatry classes just yesterday.
These people need punishment, of course, but primarily they need therapy.

Why crucify? Beheading is enough.
Oliver Cromwell was actually dug up and executed after he had been dead and in the ground for 3 years. People do the nuttiest things.

On topic: I am against all forms of torture, and death penality. This is no exception.

Well, I'm not one to tell another culture that they can't do something or other. Though I have to say it seems a bit much.

I was watching an episode of QI earlier. Apparently a Pope had his predecessor (whom he hated) dug up, put on trial (with some guy ventriloquising the predecessor's lines), lopped off his three papal blessing fingers and then had him reburied in a 'common grave'.

But it's okay! 'cos the Pope who came after the crazy bastard reversed the decision and had him buried in a Pope grave.

Which is better than a common one, or something.

While child rape and murder certainly does deserve to be punished harshly, I'm personally not a huge fan of the death penalty. Especially carried out in such a barbaric way, and especially when the person being punished is mentally unstable.

I do however support forced chemical castration for sex offenders. Mentally unstable or not.
Millions of animals are euthanized simply because they have a disease that may or may not affect us, thousands of animals will die when they don't have a disease simply because we worry they MIGHT have a disease.

So, why should we even waste our time arguing 'He has a disease! Let him live!'

I recall this man that raped and killed his daughter, they had every bit of proof to know he was the culprit. The only thing that stopped him from being thrown in jail was his excuse -

'I have a disease'

One thing I wonder is, why, why do we let them lurk around us? If he has a disease that makes him even more dangerous. It could be argued that I have a disease as well, and that I should be taken from the world as well, but seeing that my 'disease' doesn't hurt anyone I suppose
I'm fine.

IF this is the right man, then he needs treatment, not execution. It doesn't sound like he had a fair trial, so there's no way of telling if he's the right guy, anyway.

Also, everyone that voted that this is right clearly supports Sharia law, which is, well, it's their thing I know, but I know in England there's a lot of worry that it might happen here...

Well, beheading is certainly a humane way to die, pretty instantaneous and painless
Some theorize that's [a href=http://www.damninteresting.com/lucid-decapitation]not entirely true.[/a]

I have little sympathy for a man who raped 5 children and left one to day in the desert from lack of water. At the very least, he won't be a threat to any future children. At the best, his victims who survived will at least be able to feel safe, knowning the evil bastard will be dead and unable to hurt them anymore.

How exactly would you 'treat' a pedophile? Give him a cup of tea and let him huddle up on the psychiatrist's couch and bawl about how 'misunderstood' he is and gosh darnit, those damn toddlers were just asking for it, being all sexy like that, you patting his hand all the while and cooing that he's a good person who did nothing wrong?

Fuck that. He is a rapist. He cannot change. He irreparably harmed five children. The bastard richly deserves to die.

Death by child snoo snoo.

Not sure what should happen in this case, I have no experience at what makes a good justice system.

However my opinions are he needs some sort of punishment, but if you kill him as an example I think people will forget quite quickly, however brutal. Keep him just alive and on display if that is the effect you are going for, it will stick in the mind longer, but still won't stop everyone.

If I knew how to stop all crime I'd be a social genius though.

People have all kinds of weird and wonderful ways of dealing with the dead. Some of the Tibetan Buddhists practice sky burials, called jhator. Basically they chop you up and leave you on the mountains for the vultures to eat. I'd quite like that one for myself.
