I don't know, Pastafarianism always seemed more the playful abrasion of other, more zealous religions than an actual religious body itself.

I really thought it was a joke. It is a good argument against fundamental theists and it was meant for that. Like the inviable pink unicorn. But if it has turned into a religion, the real intension is lost.

And why would anyone believe it? I am not mocking anyone, I just need a reason. Why do you see FSM as a god?

actually, now that ive looked into it a bit more, i disagree with pastafarianism, turns out they agree with the christians in that the FSM planted fossils to fool us, which i always thought was quite silly

Pastafarianism was made not to poke fun at people's beliefs, but as a statement against the Kansas school board voting on teaching Creationism alongside Evolution in the schools.

Read the letter Bobby Henderson wrote to them. He wasn't creating a mock-religion, he was making a legitimate point.

Oh, and yes I will be surprised and pissed off when anyone generalizes any group of people. Especially one that I am a part of.

It may not have been made to poke fun at religion, but that is certainly the purpose it serves now. I dont think Einstein wanted his work used to develop bombs that kill millions of people, but there you go.

I cannot see why you should be so surprised when someone mentions that most pastafarians need to get there heads out of there asses. Dont get me wrong, im not religious by a long shot, but most of the people who belong to this mock religion (say what you like, it is one) are just as bad as any catholic; i.e; there way of thinking is basicly; "I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and I won't let people have there own way of thinking". This isnt adressed at you, I have no idea if you are like that, but this is just my experience with most athiests lately.

Instead of worshipping some kind of God, they worship there own fat ass and spend the day moaning about bigots while doing nothing to change the world except for calling out christians, muslims and the like on the internet.

I doubt the sincerity of someone who first says he didn't say making fun is that bad, and then in same post compares it to the atom bomb.

Depends on the day, I alternate between between being an agnostic atheist, a worshipper of the One True Goddess Haruhi and Pastafarianism. Really, depending on the mood I'm at.

But to be frank, if I thought there was any kind of afterlife, I'd prefer the Pastafarianist heaven.

But as it stands, it think it is a good parody that brings out and highlights many of the generally unspoken attributes of more traditional religions.

Agnostic = a person who denies or doubts the possibility of ultimate knowledge in some area of study. More than one meaning.

And it is a joke relgion. It is a parody.
