I am not an artist.
That said, I can do a lot of things that are related to art. For example, I can play the Guitar and the Violin, but I wouldn't call myself a musician. Simply being able to read music and replicate the notes with the proper motions is simply a technical skill that anybody can learn with a bit of effort. The reason I am not a musician is because I have almost no capacity to create a melody that anybody would consider "good"
I can draw and paint with a limited degree of technical skill, but again this doens't make me an artist. I can draw a machine, I can replicate a scene, but I cannot reproduce something from my own head. This may simply be due to a lack of technical skill, but I'm not really sure.
The only place where I express any artistic inclination is in writing, but even here I would hardly call myself an artist. I can report facts, I can forge an argument but I have yet to produce a story that exists only in my mind. It's something that I feel I could probably due, but until I actually do so I can never provide proof of a skill. Plus, I've often been entirely wrong about my capacity to do something. For example, when I first decided to take up fencing I was fairly convinced that I could easily do that pretty well. Then I was shown just how terribly wrong I was, and I was shockingly amusing.
