So just checked this out on a whim and apparently its released at the end of next month so not to far away. Really I havent been following this title much at all the cast seems so lacklustre the only ones I am interested in playing in the slightest would be Nariko and definitely Cloud Strife if the rumours are to be believed.

Seeing the game in action though it does seem to differentiate itself a bit more than I initially thought from Smash Brothers I mean they are both cut from the same cloth but it looks like each one will be sufficiently distinct from another and it does look quite fun. I have seen bugger all advertising for this game and until recently forgot it even existed, I doubt I will be getting this on release but its a title I may pick up a few months down the line (especially if Cloud is in it).

So is anyone getting hyped for this? do you despise it because it looks like smash brothers and smells like a cash in (terrible cash in if you ask me most of the characters are pretty unlikeable or feel very out of place)? or could you not care less about its existence?

Looking at the gameplay, there's just something about it I can't quite put my finger on, that just makes me completely uninterested in it.

I think you mean Cloud Strife.

As for the game itself. I don't I think it would be that fun for solo play. And since I don't have any IRL friends, I'll pass.

played the demo for an hour at a friends, it was...pretty meh compared to smash bros for the most part. not saying that's the representation of the final product, but overall i much prefer smash bros, so i'll just save my money.

wasn't horrible by any means, just had a few nitpicks about it that wasn't quite what i was wanting.

yes thats the dood damn typos, im more interested in the online play as its pretty much near impossible to get 3 friends together to play a game these days without major planning hell getting to see one is hard enough but this seems like a game you could play with strangers pretty easily its a free for all mostly it seems after all. If it wasnt for online play I wouldnt even look at this game as I am not interested in playing the comp at all.

They have an open beta for it on PSN, tried it, it's kinda meh to be honest, just like SSB but with less...mascot-like chars.

It's shallow and easy to get into and stuff, I'd much rather play a more traditional 2D fighter like Blazblue and Guilty Gear.

And to hijack the thred, GG accent core + with online was recently released on xbox live and will hit PSN in November. Be sure to give it a go.

Im much more of a traditional fighter fan myself but sometimes I just want something a bit more mindless.

I love Guilty Gear and have tried it in the past quite a few times (finally settled on playing I-no) so I will probably end up getting it on PSN the only trouble is I find it a bit too technical for me especially as I-no is not the easiest to use, Faust is also awesome but im even worse with him. I know that I would get better with practice but I dont have a lot of time these days to do that im also not sure about the netcode it seems its a bit hit and miss which is a little dissapointing I used to play the xbox version GGxxReload? online and just get slaughtered still its a fun game with an awesome cast.

Personally I am waiting for P4 Arena to come out over here thats the game I really want to put some time into oh and Vampire Saviour 3 both out around February it seems.

Blazblue Chrono Phantasma is also looking good although I dont expect to see that for a while I hope they buff Makoto a little bit in this one, Bullet also looks good but I dont think I will ever stop maining Makoto shes probably my favourite fighting game character ever.

Looks like a very meh game.
The "power moves" systems looks like a bad version of ones you see in 1v1 fighting games like tekken and the moves seem so overpowered at time (lots of instant kills).
Besides, I already have SSBB so definitely gunna pass.

I don't like how you can't hit characters off screen to kill them and the power moves system looks like move spamming is the best way to get ahead.
I don't know half the characters in it and it looks average.
I do like the levels though.

I've never played a Smash Brothers game, although I've been vaguely interested in trying one - just nowhere near enough to actually buy a console for one since I don't follow any Nintendo properties.

All Stars COULD be a good way to experience a game of the same type, except from what (little) I've seen of it it just looks mashed together. The characters clash with eachother badly, and just the general presentation doesn't fit the nature of the characters. That kind of thing really bugs me.

That, and the fact that I don't like online multiplayer, and that it's very rare I have real life friends around, means that for me it's a possible, but VERY unlikely purchase. The chances of me buying it would go up a lot if Cloud is indeed in the roster, though I would only get it for the odd occasion a friend stays over.

Eh, I suck at fighting games, which is why I'd probably lean towards something like this or Brawl. The problem with Brawl was that it handled slightly differently than the traditional fighting game so that just made it more complicated for me.
So what I liked about All Stars is that the characters are handled the same way they do in their original games, more or less. For example, with Kratos, you still use Triangle for strong attacks, you can still double jump and use Icarus' wings and such. Same with Jak.

Oh the other hands, I still feel Kratos is horribly overpowered. He's fast AND powerful. Sure, you can say you can be good with any character but we all know what happens when you got an overpowered character: They all go after that guy (Right, Meta Knight?). Even other powerful characters like Big Daddy and Sweet Tooth are not as fast as Kratos.

I really hope the game is balanced by the time it comes out. That's my only problem.
Oh, and the fact that you can only kill others with Super attacks. No damage bar/counter on a fighting game? Madness!

But seriously, I'm rooting for this game. Probably not a day 1 purchase for me but still.

Here's something for your I-no needs:

BBCP will be out Spring or so of 2013 so it'll take a while, as for Persona, I don't know when the EU release date of it is. I have it and it's a good game but I like BB more, in the end though, I'd just tell ya to play all of em and GG too, they're all great games and different enough.

I will probably not get Playstation All-Stars mostly because I don't have enough friends to warrant playing it for a while. Brawl was the same way. We bought it, played long enough to get all the characters, and that was it. Not my cup of tea.

Guilty Gear however I am digging. I main Chipp and sub Dizzy and it will be nice to see them again. Plus the GG soundtrack is the best in all of gaming, no question.

Brawl lasted me about a month, the novelty of beating people with Charizard eventually wore off I guess. Games like BB and GG I've been playing for years and I can't have enough. I think this is the true benefit of depth. Yeah, it's not for everyone, games like all stars have their purpose too, but for some people, they're just not enough.

O-Sol main here, though I plan on learning Johnny and Dizzy some once the R version hits, possibly Jam too.

Played through a little of it with the BETA release, wasn't impressed then eventually got really bored. No character has any "weight" to them so every punch is just kinda floaty.

I had been excited about this game since it was announced, because there was a chance Sir Daniel was going to be in it, then he got announced and i became even more excited, then I played the beta and like some people here I initially found the game to be average, but when I had a clearer view of the controls the game suddenly became a blast to play. It's a really good game from the beta if more people gave it a chance they would see that it grows on them.

Also OP, if you are not a Playstation fan from the PS1 days to now I can understand why you would find the game to have a lackluster cast but for the people that stuck with Sony since the start it's pretty much the best roster they could ask for, even though there are some odd ones in there such as Donte (marketing reasons) and Big Daddy (also marketing reasons) there is overall some really good characters and the game does succeed in being a ceremony of PS history. Now if people could only try the game out for just more than one hour they would see how great of a game it is.

I still think building the failure state around super attacks is utterly ridiculous. I may give it a try, though, out of morbid curiosity.

Nope.
I honestly couldn't care less about fighting games in general, and this one is no exception.

I'd rather just play the games the characters are originally from.

Something tells me I would get a better overall experience out of it this way.
