Well I've played gen 1 to 3 and for everyone it's been the water starter. Squirtle because Blastoise was the mascot of blue, Totodile because Feraligatr is a beast, and Mudkip because once he evolves he becomes immune to electric so beating the first, third, fourth, and seventh gyms was a breeze

Generation 2 was the best. Cyndaquil was the man.
Gotta love that little bugger. Even his character in the cartoon was sweet, but all of the Gen 2 starters where great in the anime.

Oops. Again, I missed the point of the thread.
I got Fire type starters for every single game.
Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, and Chimchar.
Hell yeah.

I voted for Gen 1. Its better to choose the fire pokemon on ANY of the games cause if you teach them Thunder Punch through a TM or HM you can basically kill anything, anywhere. Sept Rock pokemon.....buuuuuuttt hey

Bulbasaur, then I laughed at anyone who chose Charmander because of the first gym.

But yeah, my picks in the past were: Squirtle, then Cyndaquil, then whatever wasn't Mudkip.

No offense to the little guy, but the thing he evolved into looked dog-ass ugly to me.

Never played the fourth game.

The ones I first took were; Bulbasaur, Totodile, Torchick, Charmander (remakes) and Turtwig

But my favorites are Squritle, Chikorita, Mudkip and Turtwig.

And the best gen is the second.

Only had yellow, so no generation 1 starter...
Crystal was totodile. Silver was cyndaquil.
Sapphire was mudkip.
Pearl was piplup.

Water starters. :)

I've never EV trained a pokemon, maybe it's time I did that.

Still, my favorite accomplishment was when I navigated my way through Dark Cave without bothering to learn "flash"
oh, i did that. took a while, but i managed it.

anyway,
-1st generation: squirtle. seemed to work pretty well.
-2nd generation: never got it, hoping to get heartgold/soulsilver.
-3rd generation: torchic, although i gave up on it around level 30.
-4th generation: turtwig. seems to be the strongest one i have got so far.

my favourite of the generations was the 3rd generation, because of the perfect balance of speed and gameplay. all the new games seem to be slowing down since then.

and my favourite accomplishment was catching some of the legendaries with great balls. it works astonishingly well, and i have no idea why.

First generation all the way! On the second they were able to introduce new cool pokemons... now it's just sad in my opinion.... Lack of imagination.

First Pokemon was a Charmander! When he got to Charizard I was SO excited.

Bulbasaur because he had no weaknesses in gyms until the 7th, by that point you could have loads of extra pokemon that could crush that gym
or you could just use water types all around the place! anything with surf usually did that!
Lt Surge could kick your arse, I suppose you could have pokemon ready for then but by the 7th gym you have loads of choice
Because weaknesses and strengths aside... he is a f***in Dragon and has a sweet evolution =D that was why I ended up choosing him at least, that and I was a 8 year old that was hoping on the Pokemon Band Wagon
yes there isnt a young perosn alive who lived through the era of pokemon that can not deny that never liked pokemon or that they never watched it!
I believe Cracked.com said "If you don't see the appeal in Pokemon you were never a child"
thanks for your imput on that silly billy! i believe then my previous statement was right after all!

I played Pokemon Yellow where I got Pikachu, and then the first gym came; fighting rock type with electric, fun times.

i always hated training him, cause i would throw him out against something i thought he would take down no problem, and then they would throw a fire punch out of nowhere or something like that. so i guess it's back to my original statement. bug pokemon are trash.
