I've seen on other threads about people who still play Pokemon video games and are ashamed of it. So I started this thread to find how many gamers here play Pokemon(or don't) and how they feel about it. I for one started playing again a while ago when I bought Pokemon Diamond for the DS. I am not ashamed about it but I don't talk about it either.

(The accent over the "e" doesn't show up right for some reason.)

I haven't played it in a long time but it's a great game to take with you when you're going number 2.

I play pokemon...well I used to. To me pokemon is one of those "like it for a while then dont touch it for years" kind of game. Its easy, sort of fun, dosent require alot of concentration and I think its healthy for my phyce to keep in touch with my inner child and pokemon is good for that. not like digimon, which is basicly pokemon with a plot, no grind (for leveling up is grind we just dont notice it) and its a bit more teenage based.

What's an action replay? I've heard people use the term, but I've never had any idea what an action replay device is.

I voted other because the one time I actually did play Pokemon was on an emulator. I actually liked it and if I had a gameboy or a DS or something I'd actually play it casually. Its an amusing time and I think its perfectly good entertainment. The legions of fans makes me raise an eyebrow but I mean good for them.

Also, I keep hoping one day someone will make it, to quote 4Chan, "Grim n Dark". When you think about it, Pokemon is a really demented premise. Allow children as young as 12 (or whatever) unsupervised into the wild to play with dangerous and wild creatures. Then actively have them go around engaging in ethically curious fights. Awesome.

This year in my school a pokemon craze popped up for a few weeks, because people could play it on their phones. It went away pretty quickly though.

It's a cheat card that let's you add anything you can collect in the game to the game. For example I have just beaten the first gym and I have a Charmeleon, two eevees, a swablu, an elekid and a seel. All pokemon you can't get before the national pokedex.

i find that the're badly made games and yet i always buy them. seroiusly wtf i use an action replay and for some reason a poorly made game is fun. which in turn means the're generaly good games. i'm confused.

No. I have played it, long ago, but couldn't be bothered to keep up with it beyond the first couple of games.

Why be ashamed about it? It was a great game when it first came out. Now every couple of years Nintendo re-releases it under a different name and replaces some of the characters. Ya know, like every other Nintendo franchise.

I got PKMN Mystery Dungeon for the DS and surprisingly had fun with it.

And no matter what you say, the pokemon shows will always have a place in my heart.

I second it, Explores of Time somehow turned out to be a great dungeon crawler and for long time entertaining game. The only "Spin-Off" PKMN game that impressed me so far.

Always liked Pokemon since Red/Blue appeared on the good old Game Boy, but nothing makes you seem more nerdy then speaking about them in public or even in the wrong boards. So I "keep it" and talk only in gaming or nintendo directly related boards about it.
