I've loved both games so far, and I'm looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy.
According to Molyneux The Fable series is supposed to be and planned to be a 5 game series, so we have much more Fable to look forward to than just a third game. :)

OT: I agree with Onyx, not on it being the best of 2008, but on liking it for what it is rather than getting my hopes up about it and having them dashed. It should be a pretty damn good game, I feel like it will turn into an RTS though half way through once you're king and have to fight off armies of other countries.

I loved Fable 1 and liked Fable 2 a lot but I do think that it didn't live up to what a lot of people expected but it lived up to what I wanted it to be so in my opinion it was a good game. I'm not sure of Fable 3. I will probably get it. I might wait to see reviews. If not just wait for the prices to go down. I must make sure to never board the hype train again, not after the MW2 crash of disappointment.

I'll rent it, but I don't think I'll buy it unless it's really, really good. Fable I bought, liked it, but it wasn't as deep as they promised. Fable 2 claimed to be as deep as Fable was suppose to be and deeper. It came to be ok, little deeper but not enough in my mind. Fable 3 isn't going to trick me this time!

I loved Fable 1, but Fable 2 was very meh so I will be reading reviews very, very carefully this time.

I've only played Fable 2 so far, it was the first game I bought for my 360. I thought there were a lot of very good bits about it, but it lacked some of the depth I've come to expect from an RPG. If they get rid of that emotion-wheel thing and get some really well-written dialogue in it'd be a fantastic game.

Nevertheless, I'll be interested to see what Lionhead does with Fable 3, and what changes they make.

Incidentally, why is the first game frequently so highly regarded, and the second not so much - what was different?

I'm hopeful that it will be pretty great but I'll wait and see before buying it.

I loved the first Fable and played it for weeks over and over again. Then Fable 2 came out and I was attached to my X-Box once again. I've read some previews of Fable 3, and I will definitely be getting it, even if it just like Fable 2.

I loved the original Fable.

I was less than amused with the second.

The third looks damn good, and that makes me happy. :]

I loved the first Fable.

I enjoyed the second, although Molenux made it waaaay more complicated than it needed to be.

I am defiantly looking forward to the third.

EVERYTHING.

There was pretty much ZERO focus on the whole "Talk to people with emoticons!" thing, and there was much more choice and depth. The combat was tighter and the story was better.

And there wasn't an annoying fucking dog that finds a rotten apple buried in the ground every five seconds.

Lets just say that the first game bent the second game over a rail if you know what I mean.

Yeah. I ADORED Fable 2. Was my RPG of the year in 2008. Even over Fallout 3.

Mostly because I take it for what it is, not what it should have been.
Apparently we're the same person.

People who are honestly disappointed by what Molyneaux sells them deserve every once of disappoint tvey got. Although it makes me wonder how successful he would have been as a used car/door to door salesman

Ya i am, but i follow most games that have alot of hype behind them, up until theyre murder by reviewers (ie Darkest of Days)
The only thing about Fable 3 Im not looking forward to is paying for it.

Fable- Bought it on release, didn't even remotely live up to expectations. Sold it, later reaqcuired it because it came free with a magazine I usually buy.

Fable 2- You know what? This is it! Everything that the first Fable had promised and failed to deliver, it's here. Oh wait... no, it isn't.

Fable 3- Fuck you, I'll keep my money this time, and hey, maybe I'll get it free with a magazine someday as well. That way I don't have to pay for the priviledge to get disapointed.

I'll buy it, but I'm not that hyped about it. Fable 2 was a massive disappointment for me. Couldn't wait to get home to play it, after I spent so many hours replaying Fable 1 over and over. Boy did my opinion quickly change. The game ended just as the story had gotten interesting. Felt like I'd bought half of a game, tbh...
