Of the child-aimed TV shows that ended up gathering a large adolescent fanbase due to their sheer high quality, the main two are MLP and Powerpuff girls. I've seen some of both, and I agree that these are both good quality shows. But which one is the best?

Hmm out of those two I would go with the powerpuff girls for the reason that it was apart of my childhood and nostalgia does that to me :p

Well I found MLP to be a tired and predictable show (it was mildly humorous at best).

Powerpuff girls ran my childhood (along with Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, and various other Cartoon Network shows). Now granted, that could easily be nostalgia talking however so maybe the PPG is just as bad as MLP and I just don't realize it.

I've never really watched Powerpuff girls and so I'm going to have to say MLP:FiM, it's kept my attention for the most part during it's run which for a cartoon is a pretty good success.

I grew up ENJOYING PPG, MLP is just an overblown fad with the most pretentious following.

So definitely PPG all the way.

Ummm...should we be worry about the three collectors? Anybody else think so? Anybody?

OT: I like both shows, though I lean towards the oldies that is PPG.

Powerpuff Girls!

No offense to the ponies, I just think it was funnier in general. I'm more a fan of action/comedy than friendship/comedy.

Also Buttercup was hardcore.

Nostalgia vs. The Latest Trend

Be honest. Most of you aren't judging based on which show is 'better', whatever standard that is based on. You are voting because you are nostalgia tripping to your childhood, or you've still got MLP fresh in your minds.

I abstain, this just isn't worth weighing out.

Power Puff Girls. Not that I was a huge fan of that, either.

Btw, what's with the Collector avatars and Pub Club titles? Are normal members about to be harvested?

ARE YOU CAUSING FORUM SHENANIGANS AGAIN?!

OT: I prefer MLP but I did enjoy PPG. If I enjoyed PPG as much as I enjoyed say... Megas XLR then I would still remember most of it. But frankly I can't remember much of it.

Powerpuff Girls was NOT a show made with little girls as the target audience, unlike MLP. The merchandise, sure, but the show? Have you SEEN the show? It's fucking violent as fuck! Buttercup kicks a bloody tooth out of Satan's mouth IN THE OPENING CREDITS. It was created by a guy who thought (correctly) that cute little girls beating the ever loving shit out of villains was funny. MLP may be "quality programming" according to its fans, but somehow I doubt it was conceived with the same audience in mind.

Nothing is going on, what could ever make you think that? We are just going around minding our own business and such.

Haven't seen enough Powerpuff Girls to give a good judgement call.

Btdubs, this thread is just asking for nerd-rage.

Powerpuff Girls had some blood and an episode dedicated entirely towards The Beatles.
Not only that, but it was hand drawn. Instant vote from me, right there.

Now, nobody mention PPGZ.

I honestly don't know what PPGZ is.
Anyway.
I didn't even understand the Beatles episode at that age and now I'm a giant Beatles fan and I adore that episode.
Funny thing about Powerpuff Girls, everybody's getting nostalgic here, and I would be too if my parents let me watch it when I was young. Seriously, they thought it was too violent. Now I'm 18 and I'm into games like Madworld, Gears Of War, and Mortal Kombat and I absolutely love Tarantino movies. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if they stuck to their guns a while longer and kept sheltering me from violent media.
Anyway.
I'm an MLP fan but since I didn't watch PPG when I was young, I'm not going to give the show an unfair default vote, I just came in here to tell that little story.

Yeah, I'm going to get out of here before it gets heated too.

I enjoy MLP, but this^. They're two VERY different shows, with two very different takes on the idea of female empowerment.

I have no idea. I like them both and own all currently available seasons of both shows on DVD. PPGs has some serious violence going for it--hard to believe they allowed some of this stuff on TV, but you can tell in later seasons where Cartoon Network told them to tone it down--but I do enjoy the cuteness, charm, and the music in MLP. Right now, I think MLP edges out a small victory for me because new episodes are still being made so there's still stuff I have not seen.

Gonna go with Powerpuff Girls out of love and respect for Genndy Tartakovsky. Sorry, I can't see past Hasbro's pony cash-in.

Difficult choice. I'll have to say MLP, simply because I never watched PPG, so I can't really make an informed decision.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I'm going with ponies, I love me some power puff girls but after a certain point it just got really boring. Ponies are still going strong, despite the weird human tie in movie thing.

Besides, ppg does't have a character as awesome as Rarity.
