I see all sides of this argument in Resistance 2.
I hate the Laggers - I find it insulting when I lose my kill-streak because some fucker was stood right in front of me, not firing, then is magically BEHIND me and insta-gibs me with a trio of headshots that he couldn't physically have fired in that space of time.
I also hate the cheap fuckers. The arseholes who jump-shoot with the Wraith (a minigun), or the horrible cheapness of the Carbine Rifle-grenade.
But I respect players like myself. I don't care how much people *****, the Bullseye's "Tag" shot is not cheap; it's inaccurate as fuck, meaning you have to be pretty close (ie: shotgun close) to reliably hit. I've followed someone before now from medium range, fired off three Tags and hit nothing but air. By contrast, I've sometimes got lucky and tagged from Sniper Rifle ranges, and thus been able to absolutely maul the poor sod.
But the Bullseye is a weapon that takes skill; Tags may not (fire, hear the blip, let fly randomly because the bullets home in), but the act of Tagging is essentially about bolt-action sniping with the single most inaccurate weapon in the game. If they miss with the Tag (or have run out), all you have to do is walk backwards and keep firing... except if you've got a shotgun, then you just run in and headshot.
I respect someone who can take a balanced (or even a hard-to-use) weapon and win with it. I don't respect people who take the easy and cheap routes.
I sure as hell don't respect Campers - if they want to Snipe, they should piss off back to Call of Duty, or the 60-player Unranked matches where having a dozen snipers barely makes a difference to the game.
Whilst I'm on the subject, Resistance 2 sometimes throws a spanner into my gaming works when in Team Games; the association of fucktardery known as the 'Clan'.
Highest Ranking in the realm of Douchebaggery is the Clan whose tag is "333". Went into a 10 vs 10 game where they made up 5-6 members of the opposing team. Everyone else in the game was random (ie: not of the same clan, or even in the same party). First game, the guys get fucked over early on; we hold them off long enough to build up a decent point lead. They all Rage-Quit, spoiling the game.
They then come back, and this time they start winning... eventually leading up to them spawn-camping us.
Clans, I feel, are the epitome of arseholery when this is allowed; Clans should only be allowed to play against other Clans. It is not big, or clever, to take an organised team who play together constantly against a bunch of people who've never met each other.
