I admire your decision to follow my example, and I would delay getting a 7th gen console for some time. The PS2 beats them all hands-down, I say. Quality list, too.WickedBoy6 said:I have yet to jump ship to the newer consoles, mainly due to money, so the PS2 is still my most current system, but even if I get a PS3, I'll still be playing the PS2 for a long, LONG time.I have my own personal Top Ten, as well, and I'll try to use the same guidelines as Tryzon.
Devil May Cry 3
Final Fantasy X
God of War II
Grand Theft Auto III
Kingdom Hearts
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Odin Sphere
Resident Evil 4
Rock Band
Soul Calibur II
Was the movie tie-in 360 and PS3 only? I thought there was a PS2 version too... ah well.Iwata said:I didn't make a distinction on my list because there are no other TF games for the PS2!Mehall said:Transformers (The Atari licensed one, not the movie tie-in)
None!
At all!
Also, you have an awesome avatar. Just sayin'.
I think they might have been denying the other PS2 games because they hate the films they're based on. You'll have to ask them, though.Mehall said:Was the movie tie-in 360 and PS3 only? I thought there was a PS2 version too... ah well.
and thank you! I memegenerator'd It myself.
My apologies for giving the game away. At least I think that's qhat happened.Iwata said:I don't hate the films. I love the films (and I'm a die-hard Gee-Wun-er)!
It's just the games that... uh...
Ah, you ruined it!
That also was something I considered before sadly leaving out. Burnout is the better racer and TimeSplitters is the better multiplayer experience, so Mashed got left behind.TheEarlOfGrey said:Mashed needs to be an honorable mention. One of the system's later titles that changed mutliplayer racers. I mean they're making a sequel, but Mashed still rocks.
It seems that we've got a very similar PS2 game taste.Tryzon said:-SUPER-SNIP-
We do have quite similar lists, although I deliberately avoided numbering them because I could never say for certain which are the absolute best. Besides, can one really compare Burnout with TimeSplitters? No, so doing that is pointless. Good effort though.Deadlock Radium said:It seems that we've got a very similar PS2 game taste.Tryzon said:-SUPER-SNIP-
My top tens is (1 = best game, 10 = 10th best game):
1. God of War
2. Burnout 3 - Takedown
3. Ratchet and Clank
4. God of War II
5. Jak 3
6. Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy
7. Need for Speed: Most Wanted
8. War of the Monsters
9. Grand theft Auto: San Andreas
10. Baldur's Gte: Dark Alliance II
I picked these games because those are the one who have been the most enjoying again and again, love those ten games.
You're the first person to mention Ratchet & Clank, I think, which surpises me. I thought all the fans of that series would jump up and complain that it's superior to Jak, but apparently not. Odd.CrazyHaircut94 said:I love the PS2, it introduced me to modern gaming, and I have most games on it. My favorites are (in no order):
- Jak II
- Jak 3
- Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
- Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
- Shadow of The Colossus
- Resident Evil 4
- Prince of Persia: SoT
- Sly 2: Band of Thieves
- God of War
- Final Fantasy X
Certainly they both would be. I'm actually really bad with lists. If I put a top 10 up I'd just remember something later and feel the need to amend it. Any top list I come up is really only a list of the top things I can think of "at that moment."Tryzon said:Well I sense a challenge here, friend. Care to suggest alternatives? I can imagine that ICO and Shadow of the Colossus might be among them.Hiphophippo said:This is an upsetting list. You seem to have forgotten all the true classics in favor of dime a dozen games like Burnout (which incidentally is loaded up on my ps3 at the moment but I digress) and hitman. I respect your opinions but as the years have gone by I believe we've come to see what the true classics are, and most of these aren't it.
Yes sorry, Mashed: Fully Loaded was the one I have. And I hope the sequel, Gas: Fuel For Fun, does get the credit it deserves. It is an arcade/PSN title though, which doesn't matter that much but surely on disc there could be so much more mutliplayer content from day one.Tryzon said:That also was something I considered before sadly leaving out. Also, I'm not sure how it worked wherever you are, but here in Blighty Mashed came out in 2004, and then a another version came out the next year. I wouldn't call that a "later title". Regardless, the upcoming successor is a very promising concept, and I hope it gets more universal attention that its precursor.
Yes, the prevalance of downloads worries me more and more. How will collectors gather things up decades from now when all the download services have stopped? Not without difficulty and some not entirely legal measures. Madness.TheEarlOfGrey said:Yes sorry, Mashed: Fully Loaded was the one I have. You can't compare the series. J&D is more mission-based platforming, R&C is wacky gun toting.Tryzon said:You're the first person to mention Ratchet & Clank, I think, which surpises me.
