There's not enough information in your poll for me to respond. First off the Wii, 360 and PS3 are completely absent from your list of options as I see no option for "current gen" consoles. Also you allow the option of "next gen" consoles without defining what those are. Do you have secret information about the consoles all the companies are working on but have hithertoe not anounced? Because I and the escapist certainly don't.

In deference to your terrible poll, it's a tossup between Wii and PS3, but I'd err toward PS3, which is not a consumer loyalty statement as a PS3 is in fact the only console I don't own since I put a blu ray player on my PC.

My reasoning is that the PS3 has a blu ray player and I don't want my kid using my computer to watch movies when I want to play games on it. It's also the one witht he longest projected lifespan since the PS2 is still releasing games for god's sake. As it, unlike the 360, believes itself to be in direct competition for the Wii it will have plenty of kid friendly games without sacrificing current gen graphics and titles.

N64.

I grew up with one of those and only 5 games but dammit, those where the best memories of my child-hood. Banjo-Kazooie occupied me for hours and it would still do so now.
I'd still have it but my Dad decided to chuck it away without asking me when we moved house.
...

DAMN HIM TO BURN IN FIERY HELL!!! *Ahem* Ok, I'm good.

Well turbo, if there's an option that's not on there, just choose other.

I would try to raise my child as a PC gamer.
Same here. I enjoy PC gaming because of a slew of mods, abandonware, DLC, and other free/cheap stuff. Plus, it can do all the other stuff a computer can do (internet, work, ect.).

Games I had on N64:

Super Smash Bros.
Banjo and Tooie
Super Mario 64
Spiderman 64
Donkey Kong 64
Yoshi's story
Conkers Bad Fur day.
Gex the gecko
Kirby 64: The Crystal shards.

There was hardly a day I wasn't playing at least three from the list.

Don't slap your child with a Wii Tell! By the gods man, how daft can you be!? If you're going to slap someone with a console, slap them with the Odyssey! The Wii's too lightweight, and it's more symbolic to do it with what started at-home gaming.

A computer.

Fuck consoles I'll get the kid to play the classics and yet still be able to play with his friends.

Well Plur, I'd like to agree with you, but put anyone under a certain age on a computer and tell them to learn social skill through that, and you'll be responsible for creating a troll.

He/She would have a PC. They'd get to see the hardcore games that their old man playedd in his youthfull gaming prime.

And don't forget about those good ol' emulators. Pretty much any clasic at your fingertips.
