I'd make him play all the Megamans, that's for damn sure. I'd raise a lad with the patience of a saint, the reflexes of a predatory cat and the flawless timing and execution of a machine

I'D MAKE HIM AN ASSASSIN

As a child, I grew up with a Mega Drive and my brother's 386, but the one system that opened my mind, that truly turned me into a gamer, was the DreamCast. So yeah, DreamCast. That way I'd have to someone whose ass I could whoop at a regular basis in Soul Calibur, too.

I'd give my child a Wii, so they could play Wii, Gamecube, N64, SNES, and NES games.

I voted N64, because it's child friendly. I tried to imagine a kid playing a PS2 or a 360, but it just didn't seem like there was that same level of cartoonish innocence. I might be a little biased, as I had such happy memories with the 64 age 9-12.

I would raise my child on a NES for a while. Why? Because i want to develop his imagination. I dont want to spoil him with ultra realistic graphics that present everything for him, I want him to imagine and create his own stories and such as he plays and attach his own meanings to whats happening on the screen instead of what the developer presents him.

N64 due to the large library of fun, child friendly, games. The NES and SNES (Although great and were what I was raised on) have such small libraries or simply not a big enough genre of games for each (Mostly platformers and side to side combat games). Once they reached the proper maturity i'd go next gen for the sake of story and graphics.

Also, where would I pick up NES games for a kid?
Fortunately, there's a store where I live called Cheapies, and you can get pretty much everything there. I've seen 8-track tapes, record players, old game consoles, games to go with them... pretty much everything.

I would stick the kid with a PS2... because thats what I had and I turned out alright... Didn't I?

Although, I would try to get him into gaming earlier than I did.

I just had to find out. If you had to choose one console, and that could be the kids ONLY console until he could afford another himself or move out, which one would you choose? It can be from any era of gaming.

I asked most of my friends, and most agreed on the old 2D games for NES or SNES because they believe this generation is spoiled by next-gen graphics.
A PC.

Jesus fuck man, I'd give him a gaming PC of course!

"I asked most of my friends, and most agreed on the old 2D games for NES or SNES because they believe this generation is spoiled by next-gen graphics."

That's also the dumbest thing I've heard all week.

I'd let them chose, why am I going to pick my kids console? It's about what games (s)he wants to play not about the console (s)he gets.
