Have you seen the ads for Piranha 3D? if you did you must have noticed that it's one of the dumbest horror films in awhile. Honestly it feels like it's an element of 80s horror shlock which it just might be. Scott pilgrim is an acquired taste. reviews aren't really faithful with being glowing or condemming. But if you look at a few you may see what that you might like it. You can always not go to the movies and wait till they show up on dvd redbox etc.

Cause its a based on a horror movie from the 80's

It's directed by Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, some of the best comedies in the last 2 decades. If anyone can get an ounce of acting quality out of Michael Cera it's him.

There seems to be a great devide on the interwebs between those who adore the movie, call it a master piece and the best comic adaption ever, and those who latch on to the current hipster backlash and get into a fit. It especially irrataits me on this forum, partly because I expect better from the people here, but mostly because it's a movie devoted to retro gaming and geekdom in general. Chances are it's designed for you.

Shawn was good but i thought Hot Fuzz missed its mark by quite a bit. But thats just my feel

Year One is undoubtedly one of the worst movies ever created.. but I fail to see how that's Cera's fault. If you're solely talking actors in it and not the obvious fail of whoever was actually in control of that mess, I'd put Jack Black up for just as much blame as Cera gets if not more since Black was the headliner. (Hmm.. Jack Black. Now there's an "actor" who really can't play more than one role)

I found them both to be awful in that movie, I don't deny that. But there's something about Michael Cera that simply grinds my gears. The way he acts, if you catch my drift? I can't stand the way he looks, I can't stand the way he talks, I can't stand the way he acts, simply. Year One was simply his worst work, hence why I bring that one up. The movie as a whole sucking was, as you say, not his fault entirely. But in my eyes, he was a majority of the shittiness.

Thanks for explaining that a little deeper. While I don't feel the same way about Cera as you do, I do understand what you're getting at. It's also nice to see someone able to articulate their dislike of Cera beyond just "I HATEZ HIM!!1!"

Hmm. I did not know that. Although it doesn't surprise me. Although that was more believeable in the 80s. Nowadays people have figured out piranhas are mostly scavengers not exactly the creatures in that movie. But then again they made a horror movie about slugs so it doesn't matter in the big picture.

I'm glad somebody can see it for what it is. I can pick faults in pretty much aspect of it.

The whole concept just feels childish and forced to me. I couldn't get into the graphic novel series, and I really dislike Michael Cera, so I see no purpose in it. It just feels like another case of author self-insert Mary Sue-ing.

As for Avatar, like I said, it was crap too. I hated it. But, the 3-D was good. That being said, I don't like 3-D either. It feels cheap, and gimmicky, because it is. So, throw 3-D on a movie built on cheap gimmicks(AKA Scott Pilgrim), and you get double ire!

Small demographic for Scott Pilgrim? The movie is kind of a romantic comedy with awesome videogame inspired fightscenes/boss battles. That's just about the biggest demographic there is!

On Topic: Pilgrim is the only movie I have come out of in a long time and wanted to start choreographing fight scenes again. That awesome. Go see it with a group of friends. I don't think it's hipster bull, but that is mostly because I liked it and I'm most certainly not hipster. The hipster comment is directed at whoever said it... not whoever I just quoted.

Go see Scott Pilgrim with a good group of friends; if you have played a few videogames in your life, you'll probably get most of the stuff; if you like martial arts fight scenes and sort of off-beat comedy, you'll probably like this movie; if you like movies with interesting characters, you'll like Scott Pilgrim. Go see it.

I agree with whoever said Piranha was shovelware for movies. If the 3D was added in post, then the film won't even have all that much added to it by the 3D; it's just a gimmick and a waste of money at that point.

100% agree with this poster the guy is just fucking terrible, don't pay to see a film with him in it so he won't make as much money.

Guys, have you even seen the movie? I'm gonna guess no. You're not qualified to judge it if you've never even given it a chance. Trust me, I've never really liked Michael Cera either, but Scott Pilgrim isn't his usual "sweet, sensitive boyfriend" character. He's actually got a surprising amount of depth here.
Besides, you're SUPPOSED to see movies for the movies themselves, not for the actors. Then again, the American "blockbuster" audience seems to be ignoring this rule... So don't follow the lemmings. You know where they'll take you.
