Well, I've never really noticed bugs that much, even in Fallout: New Vegas. This is probably because I follow the philosophy of 'mod the game something is irreparably damaged'.

OT: I have a feeling that it would be fine. Hell, I'd even go as far as hope that Skyrim would be even the least buggy of Bethesda's RPG releases.

Okay, what precisely has been cut from Skyrim that anyone is going to miss? Streamlining is not inherently bad.

for those of you who don't know, there were almost no bugs in console versions of Bethesda games, however the release version of fallout 3 had several issues with random crashes. I just 2 months ago bought the ps3 version of oblivion, and the only error i saw was with sound once in a blue moon, and i think that is just the PS3 because it seems to have sounds problem in a lot of games.
i had oblivion and fallout on pc, with oblivion i never noticed any buys, and fallout just had a few crashes that were fixed after a patch.

Assuming it lives up to my expectacions it can set my house on fire after an hour of play and I would still probably recommend it to everyone.
Amen brother, amen.

OT: Oblivion wasn't that buggy, and while Fallout: New Vegas was bugged up the bum, it was made by Obsidian, who is known for buggy games (see Alpha Protocol). I have complete and utter fate that Skyrim will be stable.

To be honest, I don't have a lot of confidence in Bethesdas bug-fixing abilities, but I'm sure the mod community will release an unofficial patch to fix everything pretty quickly.

Stable engine, guards can still detect crime half a world away. may want to remove that one considering there was a article clearly saying crimes stay within city/areas now.

Yeah, for a PC-centric developer they sure like screwing PC players over, don't they?
Yeah damn them for giving us mod tools and letting us go apeshit with their games and making whatever the hell we want!!
yeah but the thing is they don't do anything or provide all that much to help us mod, they just condone it, which any non-douchebag developer does.
In the meantime the PC version is always the buggiest of all and by far the most likely to crash, which is fucking infuriating when you have a computer that should easily be able to run a game that looks as terrible as Oblivion /rant

GameBryo was one of the main reasons that oblivion through to new vegas crashed so much and has so many issues, I'm hoping with the new engine the game will be a lot more stable.

This is Bethesda though, so I may as well hope that the game will dispense candy floss and chocolate pudding.

Skyrim won't use gamebryo. At least, it had bloody better not. Anyway, I've never had a problem in a Bethesda game that the console couldn't solve.

I had no instability with oblivion, on top of that Skyrim is in a new engine. The previous engine, while suitable, was meh for open world games. Their new engine is built around this game so i expect minimal crashes and no huge problems

Someone doesn't pay attention.

Most game developers don't even give you a construction set, and almost no developers give you a whole website to share your stuff to the public (I can only think of Dragon age doing this in recent memory) Besides you must have fucked up your game really bad with mods to have it crash so much or whatever. I've had problems with Fallout and such but Oblivion was and is very stable, only crashing if i start to download to many mods and dont pay attention to what im doing

I dont think so, the new engine looks like itll stop stupid things like NPCs running into walls and crashing. Im sure Bethesda have learned from their past mistakes

They're still using Gamebryo for Skyrim? Could have sworn they'd switched to their in-house engine for this one.

Well, I'd hate to use the Blizzard defense, but isn't it better to refine something and fix it rather than come up with a new engine every time?

I'd still take a Bethesda game over say an Obsidian game in terms of stability. Obsidian feels like they have a bug quota that they must fill.

Fallout 3 locked up on me four times with no patches.
Fallout: New Vegas has locked up on me about forty times (still no patches, but I can't get online. I deal, I suffer.)

The engine shows a lot of improvement. I say keep working on it and if they can get it fixed it would be a really good engine.
Well its not as much as engine stability as it is just that considering that they do not have the unlimited $$$ of Blizzard or Valve AND they are making an incredi-huge RPG, so to iron out EVERY bug would take ages of testing and money that they simply do not have.

And for that is why i love their games, they dream big and ALWAYS listen to the fans. Really, looking back at each installment, there was always a set of complaints and they ALWAYS fixed it in the next installment.
