It depends on the game obviously, but when I buy a shooter these days I merely see it as a bonus if the campaign is any good at all. While I do grow tired of the multiplayer quickly as well, that's the primary attraction.

I have also been violently sucked into the world of Co-Operative multiplayer and MMO by some annoying friends. So yeah, I do enjoy multiplayer.

I play a lot of multiplayer games with friends. It's awesome. Multiplayer with randoms can be fine as well, depending on the game.

If you don't want to be confronted with obnoxious retards in online multiplayer, then don't play games that were designed to market to retards.

I loe the multiplayer in cod4, mw2, l4d 1 and 2, so yes, I do enjoy multiplayer. The xperience is improved greatly when you are playing with friends instead of randoms. GREATLY

I like multiplayer, though I like SP better. And split-screen co-op is always best.

I'm moving more and more away from multiplayer. I used to play it at y friends house whenever I could, but recently I haven't gone on as much. I'll play Duty every now and again, but it's getting frustrating these days with all the people exploiting the little things they an do (I'm looking at you Quick Scope). Now I know it's "part of the game" but really? and that's only duty. Even if I get a new game and start playing, I'll get into a match with people who are already experts and get my ass handed to me. I don't see the point of it anymore.

But, I do like Black Ops right now, and the ability to play with bots, then you can put them on easy after a rough day of multiplayer and go to town.

I want to like the idea of multiplayer, I certainly enjoy multiplayer with my friends but playing with strangers is the single worst gaming experience for me, at least as far as FPS games go. Worse than any Final Fantasy 13 cutscene or game breaking glitch on New Vegas. It seems to me that the majority of strangers I meet online just can't rise above using cheap tactics like camping a doorway on Blops with a shotgun like a little Derek Doorwatcher or shooting my horse on Red Dead Redemption's Free Roam while I'm minding my own business.

Also, children. I'm 24 years old, I'm far too old to be playing with kids. But games like Call of Duty are FULL of them., each and every one of them more ignorant and stupid than the last. To make things worst, I'm hassled by them even if I'm NOT playing. Me and my girlfriend were grabbing a bite to eat at a restaurant and sat behind us was a family with a couple kids who couldn't have been older than 8 talking and the kids were talking about unlocking the MPL and what their favourite shotgun was on Blops. I had to bite my lip so hard that I nearly drew blood.

Though maybe the real problem for me and multiplayer is that I'm a genuine misanthropist, I don't know.

Most hate Multiplayer with a fiery passion? I think the poll dictates otherwise.

I think most people actually prefer Multiplayer over Single player, particularly when it comes to FPS's.

Suprised at the results so far, I assumed it was going to be like 60 in 'no' already.

The Escapist always has disproportionate representation of views. Those who like it will mention it when the time arises, like this thread, those who don't will find every possible situation to spread the good word. It happens with almost every topic.

OT: I very much enjoy multiplayer, I usually do better than most, even if I'm having a bad match. If I end up dying I'll get pretty angry at myself if it was something foolish and I'll get angry at the game if it was a lag issue but I can usually take a legit kill well. If I get too angry though I'll stop playing multiplayer for a few days.

I really like MP when it's the sidedish and not the main course...

A really good MP will tie me over when I finish the SP, same goes for mostly everyone...

But (excluding only MP games like MAG or MMOs) I really don't like the MP beign forced down the throat of consummers... Specially when the main game (the SP) suffers for it.

I like the IDEA of multiplayer most of the time

But the actuality of it is usually less than pleasant...especially since I HATE losing.

I'm surprised to see this many people not liking multiplayer. How is playing without friends all the time even fun?

I love multiplayer, it's a lot more fulfilling to play against a smart opponent who can reason than against some AI whose stupidity is easy to exploit.

I like multiplayer with my friends, gunning down anonymous people across the country isnt really fun unless im doing it with my buddies.

How is playing with a person you do not even know that insults your whole generation while screaming on the top of his voice that sounds like it hasn't hit puberty even fun?

I do infact play multiplayer every now and then, My playing style is quite different than current shooters do. I hate Iron sights and how they work in every modern game(except stalker, that is just brilliant but only in single player) and love team deathmatch more than death match. so that means I obviously love Team Fortress 2, which I really do.

It's ok, but more often than not servers are full of children who only know two words. Fag is usually one of them. I'll usually only go on MP with friends now, it's much better that way.

Only if it's split screen co-op. I don't have many friends with the same consoles as me, so online co-op or versus modes might as well be worthless.

I do play multi-player a bit, as long as I have a way to play by myself first and get good without a bunch of douche bags calling me a noob or whatever other crap they say while I'm still trying to learn a game.
