Depends on how much, how good the game is, and if it's even worth taking a bribe for. For example if the game is good I might as well earn a little extra for giving it the review I was going to anyways. But if it's one of the worst games I've ever played then I would give it a bad review. Besides, to me reviews boil down to someones opinion. If someone wants to pay me so I can say in my opinion the game is good, then why not.

I probably would take the bribe, then when people start complaining like: "Ooooh nooo he said it was good but it made my brain go poopy inside" I simply say: "It's a matter of opinion. Now get out of the way, you're blocking the view of my shiny new car."

I think it's apparent that reviewers can be persuaded to tell gamers that certain games are good regardless of the facts. Anyone ever play Azurik for the original xbox? The hype that game got as an RPG in gamer mags led me to believe it might actually be a good game.

I believe there are a few things to note. One is that everyone has opinions on everything. It could be hard to shake that for a fair review. Two is that they might risk the company not liking the truth of a scathing review. I notice that very few games in magazines rank below a certain score. If the company has an issue with your report, they could find a way to cease giving you the opportunity of reviewing their game.

In short, I would take a bribe. You're a reviewer who is paid to play games, obtain free swag for said games, and report to the players. I've never written to a magazine or editor to complain about someone's opinion of a game. That's all gamer magazines have become, ever since there were separate magazine for Nintendo, Xbox, and Playstation games. Even gaming websites all lean toward a certain company.

Seek the truth and play the games for yourself.

Depends if the game was good or not if it was good and they still bribed me I would take the money and just give my opinion, if it was bad and they tried to bribe me I would see how much they would pay, if it was a high amount then I would take the money, give my opinion on it and then tell like some big gaming magazine that thy tried to bribe me and just see what would happen then.
So... Just to see what would happen? For that reason only? You, sir could be the next Steve Irwin.

Honestly? Unless they were offering a disgustingly large amount, probably not. If I got caught, I'd lose my job, and having a steady paycheck is more omportant than making a quick buck. If it was enough that I'd say yeah, well, than it wouldn't matter, now would it?

In general, I do think I could take a bribe for something.

But in this context, where I had to review something in a positive light when I thought it was utter crap- like a stellar review of Iron Man 2 (game) or something is just something I couldn't do without it being obvious that I was paid off to make the review. And if it isn't real or if I can fake it to seem more authentic, then I just wouldn't be able to finish the review. It's hard to cover up when you REALLY believe something is complete shit but HAVE to compliment it.

But as for bribing itself- in concept. I do think I could be bribed for a certain price, and depending on the favor/action

400 Pounds Sterling is a hefty bump to a small time game reviewer, still if it were me my integrity is more important to me then the money.

Sure, I'd take it. They probably would bribe just me but a whole bunch of people from all well-known magazines, one more or less wouldn't really matter.

for a decent magazine with a large audience it would take a much larger ammount to convince me to lie, were it just me doing a review out of my room then 400 pounds would be fine.

I'd take the money and tell the truth. What are they gonna do? Come out and claim they bribed me?

umm im going to assume that £400 is like 400$ so i'd give it my regular review (after taking the bribe) but if i didnt like it i'd at the end say "while its not perfect its a decent game"then everybody is happy

£400 is around $616.70, according to ebay currency converter. Does that change your mind any?

Well in the grand scheme of things... I get a nice bonus and happen to give a game a good review... Yeah, I could live with it.
