If you have the money and the room then I don't see why not. That said it is a fair ammount to spend when you already have a perfectly good system. It depends how many of the exclusives you can't live without. There are a few Xbox games that I would like but at the minute I just can't justify forking out the money on a whole new system for only a few games.

I voted for the "I don't care" option, because it really is up to you. There are pros and cons to both.

If you can afford it, and have a nice TV to take advantage of the increased graphics, go for it. You also get the bonus of a Blu-Ray player, if that's your thing.

If you don't have a nice TV, or don't have the money to get games on multiple consoles, don't get it.

Personally, I would like to have one, because of those few exclusives that look really spectacular. I can't afford it, though, so I stick with my PC and 360, and enjoy the exclusives on those.

If you already have a 360 then no, you shouldn't. They're basically the same thing with a few exclusives here and there.
When one of those exclusives is frigging God of War III, its hardly a little thing. The Number of exclusives match up roughly to the number of multiplats that are worth two craps (Come on, the shared games include all liscenced games, vanity projects, and fail projects Sega creates for balance).
Dude Seriously. Stop touting that game. Only you care. Most people see it for what it is. A Self Absorbed Over Macho Beat 'em up that lacks the style of the Devil May Cry Series and tries to make up for it with 'maturity' that it thinks means blood and titties.
I care about God of War. And comparing God of War 3 and Devil May Cry4, God of War wins easily. DMC 4 was basiccally just one giant semi-interactive cutscene. And i liked Devil May Cry 4.
I'm guessing you have never actually PLAYED the series and just watched Yahtzees review.

I just finished watching G4s coverage of the Sony Spotlight, and it was awesome. I always thought, what Sony could do Microsoft could do better. However that doesn't seem to be the case. I really want to play Infamous, Uncharted, Resistence 2, Heavy Rain, Mod Nation Racer, and God of War. I'm on the fence and need outside opinions. Now i dont plan on getting rid of my 360 b/c of games like Mass Effect 2, and Halo. So....um, thoughts?
I am a big PS3 fan, but even I have to say Infamous is a total waste of time. Pass on it like it's GO! in Monopoly.

That said, grab Resistance 2 - Co-Op alone is worth it.
Grab Killzone 2 - it's basically two games in one.
Grab Wipeout HD - it looks so good it is considered porn in seventeen US States... plus it's Wipeout. Who the hell doesn't like Wipeout?
Grab Warhawk - it's an awesome game.
Grab the Top Gun soundtrack - you can have it playing as background music whilst playing Warhawk, and that kicks the Awesome Levels up off the scale.

If you have enough games that you want and the money to spare, get it.

I just bought a PS3, and while I haven't played much on it yet--just Little Big Planet and the FF13 demo--I like it.
Where do you get the demo?
I bought the Japanese Cloud Black PS3-Advent Children Complete/FF13 trial set [http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/20090119/acc.htm].

Dont bother getting a second console, becuase its pretty much the same thing with a few exclusives. you will be shelling out ?600+ just so you are able to play about 8 extra games. Also adding on the cost of each game.

It was a tough choice for me, I do like bananas and pudding, but I voted yes. Go for it dude, I have both and I'm grateful for it, especially with Mass Effect 2 on the horizon.

That's a list of games to bring a tear to your eye, all of them awesome. I'd also add

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune - Excellent and a sequel just around the corner.
LittleBigPlanet - Not my favourite game but gives you something to play every once and a while.
Supersonic Automatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars - Sweet name, great game!
Super Stardust HD - First game that had trophies and still one of the best on the PS Store.

That's a bit pessimistic. Adding a PS3 to the 360 ensures that you get the option to play blu-ray, access the internet (free) and in general add heighten you gaming experience. I had my PS3 before my 360 and I don't regret picking up the 360, I have different mates who play different consoles so while I do pick up most games on the PS3, my 360 is far from redundent.

Actually it ultimately comes down to how serious a game you are; if, like me, you have time for both then by all means have your cake (banana pudding) and eat it.

ok, so you have a good arguement and stuffz, but I hate that 'Internet' arguement, IF HES MAKING THIS THREAD HE HAS A COMPUTER. Therefore, he doesnt need to spend that much money for internet acess in another room. I know that aint all it does, but when people use the arguement it feels quite like it is.

Are you European? If so, do not buy one.
If you're American, sure, why the hell not.
Guessing thats a complaint over the EU psn which does suck, easily fixed by setting up a fake US psn account with any random adress like 1000 beverly hills. Hell its cheaper at the current exchange rate from £ or Euro to import games/ps store cards from America anyway.

It depends on if it's PS3 or not, or PS3 or 360. If don't have a 360 and you want a gaming system, get the 360. There's no debate on that one (I have both). The system has more games and Sony's exclusives are pretty nil at this point. The 360 has a good counter to any PS3 exclusive and it usually gets the best exclusive content.
Really? That is interesting...

Of my four-man 'gaming grouop', two of us own a PS3, one owns a 360 and one owns both. Two also own a Wii. All have a PS2.
All of us agree the PS3 has the best exclusives this year.
The PS3 is our machine of choice for mass online play - we usually get two machines running side by side and play 2 per console. On occasion, we've gone 1-1-2 via the three machines. We rarely ever meet up to play 360 games.
The PS3 games we all rave about are Resistance 2, Killzone 2, LBP, MGS4 (not as much these days, but still), Wipeout HD (much jealous muttering from the 360 Fanboy. Mwahahaha!) and Warhawk.
The 360 game we all agree rocks is Gears of War 2. That's it. Us 'PS3ers' just aren't impressed by Halo 3, and even the other two admit there are better games out there.

And because everyone keeps claiming you should just buy the console your mates have - I bought the PS3 because no way in hell would I touch the 360. The other PS3er was of a similar mindset. The guy with both took one look at LittleBigPlanet and said "I'm getting a PS3 for this". The 360 guy can't afford both.

Funny, isn't it. The 360 is the console to get because 'all your friends have it', but in actuality all our friends who are still just getting into the 7th Generation are looking at the PS3 because, online, it's the PS3 users in their circle of friends who are most active.

In short, the notion the 360 is 'just better' is a steaming pile of shit. If I had a 360, and all my friends had 360s, we'd have one game to play on together - Gears 2. If that makes the 360 'better' in your opinion, you must be retarded.

IF you already have a 360 and want a PS3 as well, I say yes. You can't beat Blu Ray's sexiness and the upconvert should brighten your other DVDs. The system has a small amount of quality games but more are coming.

So, if you have a 360, get the PS3 as well. If you have to choose, don't go with the PS3. This is the opinion of a non-fanboy. =)
Dear god, that last line was so thick with irony I had to dig it out with a shovel.

If you don't have a 360 or a PS3, you have to consider what you are buying the console for. To me, Sony has always stood for quality. Whenever I look through the game library of my 360 owning friends all I see are multi-platform titles, shit exclusives I'd never want to buy and the one exclusive I would. Whenever they look through my games they see exclusives that they really, really want. Oh, and the "we get exclusive DLC!" the 360 owners tout is a load of crap as well; it just comes out sooner on 360 than PS3.

You get what you pay for - buy the cheaper console, get the cheaper gaming experience. That said, if you actually like playing Halo Wars more than Warhawk, or Wipeout HD, or Infamous (which I personally think's a load of crap, but I'm assured by everyone it's the best game in the whole universe) then maybe the 360's the machine for you.
