If they're going to charge $100, then it ought to also come with a solid gold, diamond encrusted collectors statue. At least then I can pick out the jewels and melt it down for sale when the dollar crashes.

(good luck finding WC3 for less than twice what most stuff its age normally sells for)
I recently brought WC3 for £5 with FT at game.
OT: I am not a fan of SC but even if I was, I wouldn't buy any game for this much... well MAYBE Diablo 3 <3.

Um, Starcraft was part of my childhood and always an enjoyable experience with a lot of friends. So why exactly shouldn't I pay another 40 Bucks to recieve a game that marks a decade of excellent game-designe in something else than a generic plastic box? And all the other stuff, like the book, sounds like nice additions to the fact that I can actually express my gratitude to good design.

Call me a balltonguing fanboy, if you want, but I'm pretty sure they won't release another starcraft soon (excluding the episodic campaign, of course, which is an other story) so this ist pretty much a once-in-ten-years-thing. I think I spend a lot of more money than 40 bucks on much more useless stuff in an average decade.

it looks like stuff for die hard fans of terran. I only hope that the USB drive is better than the one EA had for The Sims 3 CE (thing just splits in half)

If the future collectors editions come out and are similar, i will probably only go for the protoss. IF it contains similar things to this, protoss related. How epic would it be to plug a pylon into your computer?

OT: Its 200 for NZ and Au people. I converted it and the exact calculation was 110... so basically WHAT THE HELL IS THE EXTRA 90 DOLLARS?
looking at this, maybe it is a little expensive. better start putting some money aside for even the normal game :(
Exactly, I'd probably just get the game off a relative in Korea, buy the USB off the internet and get the art from a local shop.

Wait i was thinking of buy this CE but I just found out you only get a third of the game. WTF?

on a side note they arent bribing WoW players. No ones gonna pay 100 dollars for a game they dont want to get something like that
Its not really a third of the game. You get the Terran campaign. Then, you'll get Zerg. Then, Protoss.

Each campaign is going to be a game in itself.

I really don't get all the bitching about this aspect...

I second this. If they would release all the campaigns in one bundle but cut hem to one third of their currently intented length nobody would care, thoug having recieved less starcraft. How could any sane person want less starcraft?

Clearly I was doing it wrong whenever it was a year or two when I was looking for it, because that's a lot better than I found. Maybe my problem was that I wasn't really looking all that hard. Or that I was trying to pay with dollars. Still $30+ on Amazon and GoGamer at the moment, which is just bizarre. Oh well. Not like I liked it all that much to begin with. I just felt like they deserved a little money for it after I played through a friend's copy.

Funny thing about Collectors Editions, they are TOTALLY OPTIONAL, if you don't think it's worth $100, get the normal edition. And the fact that you even consider buying the collector's edition proves that you are just a huge fan who feels burned, but will be over it in a week and will still buy it.

Ahh how much I dont care. If its a good game that is long as the first ones, then why *****? They said its one campaign that is roughly the length of all three in SC 1. Oh noo I have to shell out an extra $10 for a game, oh the humanity!

Wait... Did I hear you correctly? Each version of starcraft will only have one campaign? And to play all three you must buy three copies?

Granted, the CE comes to no surprise to me, and all the WoW players will pay that much for it, but come on, guys! 1/3 of the game for 60 bucks? Starcraft players and WoW players have different mindsets.

All in all, Starcraft 2 will be a really fun game, but if this is the case, wait a couple of years for the hype to die down so we don't have to pay 180 bucks for all the campaigns.

In Canada the normal version is $70, what's the deal?
For those of you who don't know, 1 CAD = 0.998454 USD

Or rather, 60.00 USD = 60.0929 CAD

Fuck you Blizzard. Also, fuck you Activsion for your high price points.
Didn't they get the memo that most PC games are $50 dollars? And they want me to fork over fucking SEVENTY for the base package?
Blizzard is always trying to screw over us canadians on game sales. Hell warcraft 3 was almost $90 when it came out. My friend plays wow and game cards are $40 at EB which is insane considering the exchange difference.

Basically we are getting 1/3 of a game plus online and let me tell you its not all that great. Iv been in the beta since about 3 days after it came out and stopped playing within a week. Never once found somebody who was my skill level i either completely raped them or got completely slaughtered.

Also wtf collectors edition almost twice the price of the actual game? I learned long ago even if they do make some decent games blizzard are still a bunch of money grabbing bastards .
I don't remember WC3 costing that much? My memory isn't all that great i guess lol.
I've been in beta for quite awhile too, and I still like it :)

No , that's how the game retail will look . You looked the Blizzcon information? You will need to be 100% online even for single player . Check it out if you haven't.

And I doubt they'll let you play Starcraft 2 WOL when the proto or zerg expansion comes . Either that or you'll be alone as everyone would be moving on( Not saying 2 days after release there will be no WOL matches but in about a year after their prot-zerg xpac launches you will find yourself very isolated.) .

They wont add only new missions , they'll add new units .( either that or I've been misinformed by people I play beta with.)
You don't even know what the expansions will cost, so stop whining.

And for the last time, each single campaign is longer than the three StarCraft 1 campaigns combined.

Hmmm, well seeing as the normal game will undoubtedly cost $100 here in Australia, i don't even want to think about how much the special addition will cost.
