I'm going to buy it because I think it's worth the money. If you don't want it, don't fucking buy it. Is that such a hard concept to grasp? If there are lots of people that think the extra goodies in this game are worth it, then this will continue; if gamers as a whole decided that this is too much money for too little content, then the CEs will probably fail, and Blizzard will have to re-think the pricing, or if it's even worth making a CE to begin with.

Your internet bitching is not going to stop a company from trying to make money off a game they are working hard to make.

Meh. Not to me, to be honest. Though i have to say i am REALLY unexcited about Starcraft 2 as a whole. From what i've seen of the beta it's more or less Starcraft 1 with a slightly new look and some new units. I might pick it up in a year or two if it gets cheap enough by then.
However i wish lots of fun to all the people buying this.

It's honestly surprised me - I was completely in your camp back at PAX '08; totally unimpressed by SC2. But I absolutely loved it at BlizzCon last year and now in the beta. It feels like the first StarCraft and yet simultaneously not like StarCraft simultaneously. The new features and new units really went a long way into making it feel like a whole new game.

"You don't technically have to (login), but you'll want to. You can play in offline mode if you want - I just don't think you're going to want to. You'll be giving up lots and lots of features, and why would you want to be giving up features?"

That was almost one year ago . Those features could probably include the ability to save the game , do skirmishes . For all we know , you're the clueless idiot stating facts on "maybes".

Also ,keep it civil you guys . If you cannot engage a conversation without throwing insults then just don't bother .

I laugh how I read your post, and didn't find the actual game included in the special edition. Man, wouldn't that be funny, someone goes to buy the special edition of the game, and fails to notice until after they've broken seal that it doesn't actually contain the game.

No, the features are achievements, the unit customization, stat tracking, friends lists, social elements - you know, everything you don't get when you play offline in Steam. We know this for sure.

Yep! All this is confirmed.

Not to be a fanboy, but I'm kind of on-board with blizzard on this one. I am, of course, really looking forward to the single player campaign, but so much of the original SC for me was online games and custom maps. You need to be connected to play these, so having the multi-player components well integrated into the new battle.net is pretty cool.

And yeah, it's sort of a drag you don't get achievements and etc. for playing offline, but you can still experience the entirety of the story without connecting to the internet. Though, I really don't know anyone who is buying the game only for the single player aspect. Not that they don't exist :)

They're giving you the original Starcraft and expansion (still about twenty five bucks there), plus more than fifteen dollars worth of extra junk, plus a sixty dollar game. Looks fair to me. If you don't want it,

DON'T BUY IT.
That's correct if you're a console gamer and consider 60 dollars for a game is reasonable. If you're pc gamer I guess we're just spoiled by 50 dollar games for years.

I've bought console games before, so I guess I don't mind he $60 price point. BUt I'm probably going to get the Collector's Edition anyway, because, IMO, they have enough bonus content to justify it.

Not Blizzard's! War3 and D2 were both $60.

Just going to reiterate this, with a quote from Blizzard's Bob Colayco [http://kotaku.com/5512576/does-starcraft-ii-require-an-internet-connection]:

"An initial activation check-in is required, which we also have been mentioning since BlizzCon and even before that. The campaign and other solo aspects of the game are still playable offline after your initial activation."

I'm going to wait untill we get the price in Pounds Sterling. If it's £60, I'll seriously consider pre-ordering the Collector's Edition for the soundtrack CD and dog tag alone. £70, I'll probably wait untill I've replaced my ye olde PC first.

Wow, we're going to complain about an extra ten dollars for the follow up of the indisputably most famous and popular RTS of all freaking time?

Besides, I am a PC gamer, and I'm used to ten dollars a month for Gametap, along with buying everything I want in Steam sales that range from thirty to TWO dollars, and I'm STILL getting this opening day.

You're going to consider complaining about an excellent developer because their goods cost twenty percent more, while the actual value of development was probably a much higher percentage? Geesh...

I fullheartedly agree. If I had $100 to burn I'd buy it.

But considering that there's two more games to buy to get THE STORY that I've been waiting TWENTY YEARS FOR I will have to forgo the collectors edition.

Well, since you've played the beta and i have only whatched some videos you obviously have more experience with the game than me. I guess i'll have to wait for the game to come out, and see it first hand before deciding wether to buy it or not. But even in that case, i'll only get the regular game. There's nothing in that CE that i actually want.

* A World of Warcraft® mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account

The bold part: Seriously ? You are bribing WOW gamers to buy Ce. How does that even make sense , Blizzard . What's happened to my favorite gaming company?
If you honestly think that people who play WoW are going to pay 100 bucks just to get the in game pet... well.... I don't even think I need to explain whats wrong with that, do I?

I'm struggling to see how you can consider that bribery, I really am. Mind explaining?
They will. People paid more than that for a Grunty.

Holy crap!! a $60 price point for 1/2 a game?
At the risk of sounding like a fanboy. That's just not true.

You don't know how many hours of gameplay the single player will have. So why would describe it as half a game, or 1/3rd of a game? Just because it follows the storyline of one faction? That just *reeks* of complaining for complaining's sake. Lets hold off of comments like that till we know for sure how much gameplay the single player will give us, aright?

That said, $100 kinda knocked me over. then I realised that buying the CE for $100 and waiting a year before reselling the minipet for $100 will net you a free game and free goodies! Unless they actually link the pet to the battle.net account that you link your copy of the CE game to. That'd suck.

If I have to personally use the pet, I'll probably still get the CE. Because 1) Disposable income. 2) $40 for a flash drive, a soundtrack, an artbook, DLC, some behind the scenes footage and a pet is not actually that bad of a deal.
