Might get it once it reaches $15 on shelves. Never cared much for SC, and if Diablo2 comes with similar pricing and copy protection I'll keep my hands off as well. Even though that tempts me a lot more.
I'm getting tired of these big-name sequels. Maybe one day publishers will realize that throwing hundreds of millions into development doesn't guarantee a good game and/or success. Call me silly, but I prefer indie games at fair prices, that actually offer something new and different.

I swear, gamers are the most bitchy, whiny and completely self-righteous lot out there. God could descend from heaven and create a game which opens a portal to eternal bliss and happiness, and gamers would complain about it. Somehow they would find a way!

It doesn't help that the most vocal of the lot also tend to be the ones who do the least research and know the least about what they're complaining about. But then I guess that's always the way it goes for any medium.

Of course if you don't like it then the option is always open to simply not buy it, you know, this being a *game* and all, a completely trivial and pointless means of entertainment which shall ultimately have absolutely no impact on the grand scheme of things. Not purchasing it wouldn't affect your life in any conceivable way, and indeed, would make no difference whatsoever. So why is it such a big deal?
I'd hug you if you weren't a filthy human being, and I mean that in the best way possible.

I've said it numerous times before: if you don't like it DON'T BUY IT.

DO NOT pirate it to "stick it to the man."

DO NOT ***** about it endlessly.

All you're doing is showing that you want it, but you don't want to pay for it. That you have no morals, and are ultimately no better than the people you complain about for making things like this possible.

It's like fucking indie music. Calling yourself "indie" doesn't make you indie. Calling yourself a "boycotter" doesn't make you better than everyone else.

Here is $100. I am not buying this game. I now have $100 for other things. I have $100! What the fuck do I have to ***** about?!
Slices of truth served with the piping hot gravy of sanity.
It's SC2! Blizzard have made it, they chose a price. If said price exceeds your desire to play the game then quite simply , don't. Loss of sales speaks louder than forum bitching. No ones forcing you to hand over your cash, a company has made a product and is pricing based on what the market can bear. Lets all just move on from this weird kinda entitlement/betrayal complex we gamers seem to have whenever a gaming company reminds us that its there to make money.

Atleast they put something worthwhile in the collector's edition. That's pretty rare in itself.

SC1+exp and a memory key should be worth 20.
So it depends on the quality of the book and comic and the music cd, if that's worth another 20.

That said, a new triple_A game on PC normally costs 50 (and 60 on consoles because 10 goes to M$/Sony), so that had better be one spectacular terran campaign, bigger than all 3 SC1 campaigns combined.

Not worth $60 for the regular game. It's exactly the same as the first one with a slightly different unit mix and graphics that are only five years out of date instead of twelve. Hell, they left most of the interface bugs and exploits in on purpose because the pro players have been relying on them that entire time. Come on Blizzard, the C&C series has evolved it's gameplay more since 1998 than this.

And I doubt they'll let you play Starcraft 2 WOL when the proto or zerg expansion comes . Either that or you'll be alone as everyone would be moving on( Not saying 2 days after release there will be no WOL matches but in about a year after their prot-zerg xpac launches you will find yourself very isolated.)
You mean like, how I have to log into Windows Live to play Dawn of War 2, but I cant anymore because an expansion came out for it and everyone... oh wait I can still play the single player, and the multiplayer. I just cant play as the races I have paid for, but I can still play against them.

Having to be logged into a service like Steam, Windows Live or B.Net really isnt that big of an issue is it?

So no, you wont be "left behind" if you dont buy the next two story campaigns for Starcraft 2. Blizz still cater for people with vanilla WoW accounts, given them free content patchs for when expansions are going to come out so they can still play.

The book I suspect will be hardback, like the WOTLK one, which is a quality art book. $100 will probably be brought to about ?80 which for the amount you get in this CE, is pretty good.

This thread has shown some light on how terrible people are at maths though.

I'll wait a few years and get SC2+exp off ebay for like $10
Um, I have some bad news. This uses the new Battle.net even for single player, you can't re-sell it anymore than you can a Steam game.

If we can find enough time to complain and ***** about it, its not really eternal bliss and happiness is it?

That being said, the human race in general is bitchy, not just gamers, it just so happens that the internet exemplifies bitchyness, and seeing as gamers + internet go hand in hand, it seems as if gamers are more bitchy than everyone else.

In reality, we are your normal run of the mill whiners with access to internet anonynimity.

* A World of Warcraft® mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account

The bold part: Seriously ? You are bribing WOW gamers to buy Ce. How does that even make sense , Blizzard . What's happened to my favorite gaming company?
If you honestly think that people who play WoW are going to pay 100 bucks just to get the in game pet... well.... I don't even think I need to explain whats wrong with that, do I?

I'm struggling to see how you can consider that bribery, I really am. Mind explaining?

Let's do some maths. Starcraft 2 can be pre-ordered off HMV.com for £30. Starcraft 1 & expansion you'll struggle to get for less than £10 new. The USB itself would be worth an extra £5. Art book, worth at least another £10. Soundtrack CD, £8, Behind The Scenes DVD, about £5. That's £68, so let's say the digital tat is worth £2. £70, nice round number, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the UK RRP, so shopping around should bring that down to £60-ish.

Blizzard is already selling in game pets for 10$-10 euros ( currency has no value it seems).
And yes people seriously consider buying SC2 just for the pet . There are people that only do that in the game , collect pets .

And why would include a in game item for a different game if you're not trying to draw those players to buy your game just for that item?

If you don't believe me , read some WOW forums and see people are actually considering buying the game just for the pet . It's really sad .

I don't get why Blizzard are so renowned, the only they have done recently is WoW and their RTS games are subpar compared to my favourites.
and out of your favourites how many are newer game with access to graphics and phsyics their games didn't have the luxury of having back then?they may be sub-par now but they were some of the bestsellers of their time

Actually my favourite RTS games are quite old, I haven't played any new ones as I don't have a gaming PC. I know at the time they may have been considered the best, but I just don't find them enjoyable. Since then they have just done WoW, so no I don't really class them as a triple A developer, although I will try to play SC2 and it may sway my judgement of Blizzard.

People seem to forget how long the campaign is. It's almost 30 missions. THIRTY.
This is no indication of how long it will take an average player, familiar with RTS genre, to complete each mission.

If it means 25-30h of game play, great. Really, I'm no kidding.
If it means 10h of gameplay, then that sucks. Because we've also seen stupidly simple missions in RTS games before. This is also a possibility.

Perhaps I'm a bit of a cynic, but I try not to fall for the hype-trap.

Disappointment lays that way.

You are WAY over reacting. If you don't want it, don't buy it. I know I for one will buy it unless I'm having serious financial trouble.
How am I overreacting? Just because I don't think the game will necessarily be the gods greatest gift to mankind?

I'm saying that the 100$ CE package contains very little of actual usefulness and, in my mind, hardly worth the content of a 100$ package. I also think that a full-priced game ought to have the content of a full-priced game. We do not yet know if this is the case or not, as the game is yet to be released. The mission count can easily be misleading in terms of mission difficulty and mission lenght.
30-60 hours, depending on player skill.
