I really couldn't care one way or another. I say them and my friends say them all the time so no harm done. Buuuuuuut if im in an environment that really doesn't need profanity of that kind then I don't swear. Such as in a library and around kids etc etc.

I really don´t care if people swear or not.
I do it a lot myself.
And if you try and stop me.I shall fuck you up.

It only offends me when we are in public or in a civil place. In a place where noone cares, swear ahead to your hearts content! Also, that video is fucking shocking.

I don't swear in person; only online, sometimes, though I don't mind people swearing at all;
but there's something about swearing that I feel dumbs down a conversation.

I can't take people serious when they swear in excess, though.

I only have a problem with swearing when it's unwarranted.

Hearing a new coworker being called a '*****' for having a legitimate complaint got to me.

It opened us up to a lawsuit, which she was classy enough to not press.

Still, that's only in professional settings. Outside of work, I may not agree with someone swearing, but I acknowledge their right to say it.

However, I draw the line at racial slurs.

actually, swear, or vulgar (folk) words are just certain expressions used by common folk that were disliked by higher orders, and were therefore forbidden. And frankly, being punnished for use of certain words does make for a negative reaction upon hearing them. These taboos were removed with the downfall of aristocracy, enlightment and cancellation of villeinage, but the custom remained.

what I'm trying to prove here is, that there is no logical reason for vulgarisms to be forbidden to use nowadays, mainly since they are just words that were unfairly and forcefully removed from the colloquial language. In fact, there are many times when the use of a vulgarism is the only way to express a thought accurately.

I voted no on the poll because I -mostly- don't mind people swearing. For many people it's part of their day to day language and it's probably not even concious.

However I agree with most posters above me in saying that excessive swearing is annoying. Swearing to knowingly try to hurt somebody is not done either, in my eyes.

About the original post - that video actually made me shed a tear. Can you imagine how horrible it must be to have to abandon somebody you love in a situation like that because you can't get any help from emergency services?

I have nothing against swearing, I do it my self rather alot.

But it does annoy me when an eight year old starts yelling fuck every other word because they think it makes them baddass.
My thoughts exactly.

It's good that the guy didn't actually end up dying, but part of me would have loved to see, if he had, that dick of a cop charged with murder.

I don't care, so long as it isn't every other word spewing out of their mouth...

It's not harmful.

The worst it can do is get annoying when someone says fuck every other word to try to sound cool.
The worst part is, if they keep doing it, they don't even hear it anymore.

No so long as you don't get vulgar around kids. Other than that you can swear like a sailor.

If it is just a friendly chat between friends then no I don't mind swear words at all but in a formal conversation I don't think they should be used and if someone swears all the time in every sentence looks like cries for attention to me.
