Where be the option for "No but I'm getting one next week"?
Cause that would be the appropriate option for myself.
So go on, what you getting. You know you want to tell us all.
Getting my Gibson SG resting on a pair of skulls and on fire with a loopy scroll wrapped around it reading "Laughing on Judgement Day". And it's going to take up the whole of my left calf :)
Insane, I want pictures :)

300 pounds? really? he will have diabetes tomorrow!

edit:unless he is a particularly muscular and tall person, but 300 pounds is still streching it for a sixteen year old
Oh don't worry, he's hefty to say the least. He's so fat, he gets called skinny. For the irony alone.

I have the inscription from Hells Gate (Dante's Inferno) tattooed around my left upper arm in latin, and the Half Life lambda tatooed on my uppper right arm (Orange lambda on a black circle background).

All hail my nerdiness.

Nope, never would. There is nothing that should be permanently scribbled on my body by some dude with a needle. Tattoos are unprofessional and thankfully employers won't hire the weirdos who get all the tattoos. Leave the tattoos to the bikers and military I'd say...I have no clue why anyone would want that stupid looking stuff all over their body - it's not cool, and on girls it's disgusting and unattractive.

While I agree SOME tattoos are unprofessional, saying they all are is crap. Both of mine are hidden by even the shortest of short sleeves specifically so they wont be a factor when I'm getting hired.

And I take offense to you grouping the military together with bikers, by which I'm guessing you mean old school Hell's Angels criminals. I'm glad snobbish attitudes like yours are not the base line now a days.

Tattoos period are unprofessional. No one wants to see them except the person who got them. I'm talking about people who have a reason to have tattoos. I don't approve of gangs either but they make sense. It's this BS average joe getting tribal tattoos or Japanese writing on their body. Unless your family came from a tribe or you're Japanese - don't get these stupid tattoos. Most people get them almost for what I'd say is novelty value. Like "Isn't this neat?".

Call it whatever you like, but I have no quells with people like bikers and military, gang members, etc. having tattoos - it's a certain image that makes sense. They really stand for something in the person's life. Not some stupid Grim Reaper on someones arm because "Dude, that looks cool and makes people think I'm a tough guy" - what, are they supposed to be the friggin' Grim Reaper? It's just pointless, and something so permanent I'd think should have some great significance to be tattooed on someone - otherwise you shouldn't get a tattoo of it.

No but i want Veritas and Aequitas the tattoos of the MacManus brothers and I want them on my hands.
I don't know any tattoo artists that would do that for your first tattoo. A lot of them wouldn't do it unless they knew what career you had.

I think that should have been more to your point. Tattoos aren't unprofessional. Stupid shit ones are. All my tattoos mean something to me. They either signify a close family member(s) or something that happened in my life. I know people look at me differently because of the tattoos, but looking the way I do in general it doesn't really change anything. If the tattoos mean as much to the person as mine do to me then fuck what other people think right?

i tattooed a heart and ribbon on my wrist when i was 17. i dont regret that (even though it has the initials of my now ex boyfriend on it).
however, i do regret a misshapen black blob i now have on my knuckle from that same time.... eh, i thought i was a good idea at the time?
Was it an intentional blob?
well, in a way, yes it was intentional..
i mustve been rather addled at 17, cos i thought it would be super cool to tattoo heart, spade, diamond, and club onto my knuckles.
*cringes in shame*
thankfully, i only got as far as part of the spade and only then figured it was an incredibly stupid idea. hence the blob..

A tattoo can stand for something in someone's life if, for example, they chose to get a tattoo in rememberence for a friend who died recently. Or a person who doesn't believe in marriage might like to show their permament love for their girlfriend (of many years I hope) or you may just wish to tattoo "John G killed my wife". To say that everyone has a stupid reason for their tattoo unless their in a gang is a little strong and just a little insulting.

Also tattoo parlours often don't like to hire people who aren't willing to have visible tattoos and some punk stars became famous with their tattoos supporting their career, so it's not like a tattoo instantly makes you unempoyable. Escpecially if it's hidden.

I don't intend on ever getting a tattoo now, but if for some reason in the future I decide that I have to get one, I would probably just get my family crest. It isn't like a sword with a snake or anything, it's just a green tree.

So I found out today that my friend got a tattoo, and although I don't yet know what of, he's a large, 300-poundish, 16 year old "gangsta",

Lol ghetto stamp

Anyway, yes, I have tattoos, 9 so far with many more planned. I love them, regret none of them (tho 2 I'm getting re-done cos they're not as good as my newer ones, same images, just improved on).

My family is very Scottish, so we have a Scottish family crest. My dad and my brother both have it as a tattoo, and I plan to get the same on my 18th birthday. (Currently 17. The countdown has begun.)

EDIT: Here is our family crest:

The writing translates to "Victory or Death".
That is so fucking cool and I am so jealous.

I love my ink. I have runes around both my ankles, down my spine, and on my chest. I have the world tree on my lower back, and the Celtic trinity on the back of my neck. Finally I have the eye of Horus on the back of my left hand, and egyptian aanks(sp?) on both my wrists. I'm saving up money so I can finish with my half sleeves.

It always cracks me up when people post things like this. I mean, seriously, how many girls care that much whether or not you find them fuckable?

OT: I'm seriously considering getting a tattoo of a line from one of my favourite concertos when I graduate across the upper middle of my back, right above my bra strap. That concerto in particular has a fair bit of personal meaning and sentimental value attached to it.

Waste of money. It's all but impossible to get rid of them if you end up not liking them later. Odds are good you won't, because the stretching of skin as you grow warps them, causing them to end up looking bad later in life.
