I probably will get a tattoo, but I marked the poll as "Undecided", because you never know. I might not want a tattoo by the time I'm 18.

Tatoos have been around for ages, various meanings and whatever, I figured people do what they're gonna do. I have no piercings or tattoos not to say they're bad just no interest in doing those things. There's far worse things, scarification for one that's just ...I mean do what ya want but man that looks like it would "sting".

I already have a few tattoos on my arms. Yeah I don't regret getting them. A lot of people, some who don't even like tattoos have complimented me on the choice I got. Although, Tattoo and fedora combo does seem a little weird at first.

My opinion on tattoos:

Girls: The lower back, upper thigh, lower abdomen and tit tattoos mean you are easy. Don't deny it, you have just shown poor judgement regarding a permanent mark on your body. And I hope to be the next poor judgement.

Guys: If you are sporting tribal tattoos, show me your fucking tribal ID, otherwise you look like a tool. Especially if you are white. Barbed wire, flames and other 'badass' designs on your bicep do NOT make you look cool or tough, especially if you didn't get the whole design wrapped around the arm...you pussy.

Everybody: Make FUCKING SURE that the kanji you get tattood on actually means what you think. No tattoos on the face or neck or hands, unless you want a job consisting of, "Welcome to 7-Eleven!" or "Would you like fries with that?".

It is a matter of personal preference as it pertains to body decoration and acceptable social standards. I do not see it much different from parents piercing a little girls ears for earrings or women (or guys!) wearing make up. One can argue that tattoos fall in a similar category as hairstyles, hair dyes, the clothes you wear, the make up, the scent you use, the shades you wear, etc. It is an expression of individuality. The obvious difference is that tats are permanent, so you have to be careful about what you choose to scratch on your skin.

Of course you can go to certain extremes for body piercings and tattoos, but in the end of the day is a matter of personal preference and self expression.

You may not like my tattoo and I may not like the shoes you wear. But that does not make us wrong.

Me personally? Yes, I like tattoos. I agree with some folks here that are against "stupid" tattoos, but that again would be a matter of opinion as to what makes a design stupid and another cool.

I do have a tattoo. It is a Polynesian tribal on my left shoulder, from shoulder-blade to chest. Your poll has no option for just "Yes" or "I already have one"

OH GOD. That last one is priceless.

I like 'em. But not all over.

I plan on getting this as a tattoo one day...

Up until now, I've been against the idea, because I could potentially get AIDS. And because it involves a needle. But now... damn, that would just be awesome!

I went with "never", but not because they look stupid. I have a couple of friends who got tattoos, and they look nice. Here's what I'm concerned about, however: not only AIDS, but hepatitis C (although some shops are safer than others now), and the tattoo's form being modified as skin stretches out with age (it'll happen to all of us, eventually). And I don't want to regret it later in my life, when I get to a different stage in my life. Don't forget that tattoos are pretty much permanent (those laser techniques don't always work out for the best).

Ever since I was young I've liked tattoos, and currently have a half-sleeve and a portrait of my grandfather on my thigh, so yeah I like them. However, I dislike any tattoo which isn't artistic in some way, such as just text. The way I judge tattoos is, if I wouldn't have it hanging on my wall, then it's shite.

Unless your getting a Prison tat, or a tat from some guy in a trench coat in a dark ally behind the local Thai restaurant, you really shouldn't worry about getting a disease from a tattoo. Needles are fresh and sterile, gloves are plentiful, tattoos are expensive, needles and gloves are comparatively cheap, and if a shop gave someone a disease like that, you can bet your ass that they pretty soon, the person who did it won't be living indoors for very long, unless its a prison. If you are extremely paranoid, just insist that you watch the artist take out sterile gloves, wash everything even remotely close to you in bleach, pressure cook everything that comes within a foot of you, and take out a fresh needle and tubes from a sealed package. That's not overkill, it's standard procedure.

Personally, Tattoos arn't my thing, and most are rather silly. Ive always been baffled by the Tramp Stamp myself: I mean honestly, its called a tramp stamp. No matter what it is a picture of, its still a tramp stamp. Why accept that label? The only Tattoos I have even remotely considered are 1) hard to remember equations that I may use every day tattooed on my wrist and 2) a Barcode on the back of my head, so I can just grow my hair if I want to hide it. Won't get them, but they are pretty clever ideas.

I know a girl who got the words "Never and Always" tattooed across the back of her neck. Easily the stupidest and most hilarious tagline I've ever heard. When she showed me, I had to come up with a good reason for why I started laughing. I said the first thing that popped in my head; "you have big mole".

All tattoos bug me. Especially on girls. The female body is already a work of art. Some dude with an electric needle is just gonna ruin it.

People who are covered in tattoos look awful :/
If I wasn't so scared, I'd get a little Hello Kitty somewhere like my back or arm. They hinder your chances of getting a job apparently.

This.

I've been saving up for my first one for the past couple of months. I want to get a beerstein design on my right shoulder to symbolise and commemorate my time at university. My uni days ended over three years ago, and I've been thinking of getting that design ever since.

Yeah, it's gonna be on my body permanently and yeah it'll fade and stretch with age. I'm prepared for that. The way I see it, I only get one chance at life. Might as well do the things I wanna do now while I've got the chance. If I don't like the tattoo, well it'll be small and concealed enough for it not to bother me too much. If I do like it, well I've got this really cool idea for a sleeve tattoo on my left arm...

To make another point; I think girls with tattoos are hot.

I think tattoos are extremely unattractive, even on an otherwise hot woman. I think it's one of my dealbreakers if she has a lot of tattoos are a few very visible ones. And guys with tattoos look like douchebags (see: every single guy in the UFC).

I have 2 tattoos.

Its a personal thing for everyone. I think that some tattoo ideas are ones that should be considered for quite awhile before getting them. It all depends on whether its something thats really important to you or something you just think is cool.

They add character, though. Tell a lot about a person, if they're done well and done beautifully. Otherwise, I can admit that the body can be quite boring and bland. I certainly don't regret my tattoos, but then I dont see mine as ever being embarrassing when I get older

I have a tattoo. Had it for about a couple of years and still love it just as much as when I got it. I made sure I picked something I fell in love with and know I would maintain interest in.

I guess I am one of those stupid people then, I have a sleeve and I plan on getting my other arm done and my back.

I never got it 'cos everybody else is or out of fashion. I have always wanted big, bold tattoo's since I can remember.

People have different tastes and likes, I see the body like a blank canvas. A big plane sheet of paper isn't interesting, put some drawings or paint on it and suddenly you want to look at it a little more.

As for the old argument of "when your old they will look stupid, all wrinkly and faded", how many old folks do you see with there tops off? Or even there bare arms? Not many.

Just look at Ozzy Osbourne, he's getting on a bit now and his tattoo's look good.

Were all going to die anyway so I would rather get what tattoo's I think look good now, potentially look a little stupid when I am older, than live with being plain 'cos I don't want to look a little silly when I am older.

Some girls think they look good bright orange, with hardly any clothes on and more make up than a clown. How boring would the world be if we are all the same, tattoo's help being a little more individual.

Think how many times you have looked silly while drunk? You look miles more stupid than I ever will and have put yourself in a more dangerous position and damage your health.
