Dante Alighieri was a poet.
Dante, in a video game, is a knight who goes to kick ass and chew bubble gum. BUt since he's wrong, he automatically fails.

So, you're right. My logic does make sense, because Dante's Inferno IS based on the poem, which is essentially a self-insertion of his own moral code and religious journey.
It fails, because Dante was learning a lesson in humility and faith, not in ass-kickery.
