I'm a PC gamer and so I obviously don't care that much about the console wars because I'm pretty much already in the position of whoever finally loses those bloody pointless "battles".
I.E. So few retail titles that even if your local electronics retailer does have PC games in stock (unless its something like CompUSA or some other PC dovoted shop), they will invariably have the least amount of space in the store, and will all be shoved in the darkest corner of the room because only super nerds like me play PC games anymore... apparently... if that total jackass at my local Gamestop is to be believed whenever I overhear him talking to a whooping Halo frat-boy. Anyway, at this point the only thing that is even coming close to making the PC a viable platform for developers and publishers alike is Steam. This is partly because this means smaller developers can publish their games without having to buy expensive disc-imprinting machines (or whatever the hell the big game companies use to mass produce game discs), but mostly because Steam is a far more effective piracy-prevention option than anything those idiots at EA tried to pull off with SecuROM. Now a few things I need to set straight: no, I'm not a PC gaming elitist, I know full well that which console you get at this point depends on your personal tastes (mine lean toward PC and possibly the PS3); secondly, I do not pirate games, I've just read in several articles (including a few here at the Escapist) that have led me to my conclusions about Steam; and third, I know that Halo is a popular series, and yes I have played at least 2 hours out of each game (played through the original Halo's single-player campaign, and a bit of multiplayer on one of my friend's console for the other 2 installments... no I don't think ODST counts as a new entry into the series, and as for Halo Wars... shut up, its not a good RTS by any stretch of the imagination)... and anyway the point is, I understand that a lot of people do like the Halo series, I just don't really understand its appeal.
