That would depend on the reasons war was being fought. If it was an invasion of some sorry-ass country for no apparent reason, or some proxy war or something, then I'd dodge that ************.

If however, the enemy was at the door, like in Europe or something, and was about to make it's way across the channel to invade jolly ol' Blighty, then yes, I most certainly would.

Having said that, if for some reason we ever had to draft troops for Afghanistan (I know we never will), then I'd go, as I have a belief/ vain hope that what we are doing there now is the right thing (never mind what we went for in the first place) .

Maybe it's just me but I dont think it would be worth dying for your country.
Call me selfish but think about it. Unless your religious (then you wouldn't fight anyway) Your life is literally the only thing that should matter in the world to you, once your dead your dead, thats it, I'd only risk my life if literally, anyone elses life was at risk (more so if they were someone close to me) and there was a chance that we would both come out okay. Maybe sacrifice myself for a loved one but that's as far as I would go.

Anyway war has changed a lot since WW1, we don't use our men as cannonfodder. Seen jarhead?

lets say your country went to War, and the draft was instated, and you yourself was drafted. would you willingly go to fight for your country or hide or run?
That has a lot to do w/ what the country/government was like in my country at the time it happened, where the war is, who started the war, the stakes of the war, & why the war was started.

AKA there's no simple answer

If you run, you are a selfish coward, and possibly a murderer.

If you run, they draft someone else to take your place.
So you send someone else off to fight, just because you are a coward.
And if you go, there's a real good chance you'll kill someone anyway - and then you die.
For what?

Because someone wants to fight a war.
No, fuck that.
If I'm a coward, you're a dog.
So obey your master and kill at his command.
I've got better shit to do.
I kill someone who is trying to kill me.

You kill a guy whose done nothing to you, is innocent. he's dieing while you run off and piss yourself.

That's bullshit logic and you probably know it.
So what, it's my fault that someone chose to risk their life "for their country?"
Am I to look after folk who suffer mental illnesses and make sure they don't cut themselves on spoons, too?
No, it's not even like that.
Because they can't help being retarded.

But someone who chooses to die had the option to take the non-retarded option.
They took the one that places their life in danger.
That's not my fault, and I couldn't care less.

And why would I piss myself?
I don't fear death.
Or killing.
I just refuse to die for no reason.

So go sit at your master's feet, dog.
Granted, you probably would die, and risk the lives of everyone around you.
Also granted, the military is probably much better off without you.

I would probably end up going.
I don't approve of war. A country is just a mass of land, to me. I don't like the idea of dying over something so silly.
But I'm far too stubborn to ever run from anything.

Yes.

If a war came to a point where my country needed to initiate a draft, I would go. It is wrong enjoy the rights and privildges of living in a country if you aren't willing to accept the responsibilities and obligations as well, in my opinion anyway.

Well, obviously if America had to do a draft they have:
1. exausted their entire inactive reserve
2. are at war with a nation(s) that threaten America her allies or something on a grander scale being the fundamentals that America and Europe enjoy (ie democracy, personal freedoms, blah blah blah)
so, that being said, I would go if I was called upon cause seriously, this time and age there isn't anywhere you can hide that your problems won't follow, darn place keeps getting smaller and smaller.
