When I meant wireframe, I meant using wireframe based models, which use a specifically different kind of graphics engine than say, the original doom. The original fps games used a kind of 3d that was calculations with sprites (2d images) projected into space, as opposed to 3d models.oktalist said:zehydra said:What? I meant wireframe! And YES Goldeneye was wireframe.oktalist said:No, you meant full 3D. Wireframe is something else. Goldeneye was not wireframe, and neither were any of those others.zehydra said:I meant full wireframe 3dAC10 said:What about Duke Nukem 3D or Hexen or Quake?zehydra said:Goldeneye. The first major success full 3d fps.
And Quake was true 3D and predated Goldeneye by a year.
Wireframe means lines only Gouraud means solid colours Texture mapping means textures ![]()

Quake and Goldeneye used texture mapping, not wireframe. Wireframe would not have been an improvement over Doom.
Duke and Doom used none of the above, because they weren't full 3D.

I'm amazed it took 4 pages for someone to mention this.The_root_of_all_evil said:Cookie taken back. Mouselook was actually done in Cyclones in 1994. Nukem was 96.
