We need more martial arts movies! The last one we had was kung-fu panda. This looks like just what M. Night needs to dig himself out of his rut.

I LOVED the series. It was the only kid series that really had some seriousness in it. Brb, watching trailer.

I'll probably wait for the DVD, I'm kind of a bit too old to be watching these types of shows (though mostly because I'd get made fun of). It's a shame since Avatar is probably one of the best things made by Nick in a LONG, LONG, LONG, time.
Agree'd and I am also too old, it is the best thing they have made in years. Although I do think I might just watch this online. but, that would be wrong.. Mr M Shamabanamagasabam need money too, like to change his name.

M. Night peaked and burnt out years ago (srsly? the trees are killing us?), and now he's ruining one of my fav series. I will see it because I love avatar and I expect it to only strengthen my growing hatred of M. Night

I liked the series, best since old cartoons. Idk about the movie, I doubt I'll see it in theaters but I'll pick it up later

Hm, It doesn't look bad. Though the kid playing avatar doesn't look anything like him. Not, a whole lot, I mean.

I wonder who will play Prince Zuko*. I loved that guy. :D

and you know its hard to find a bunch of different races for one movie its just easier to cast white people
White isn't a default race. Sure whites make up a majority of the U.S. but should the rest be excluded? And why cast the entire genocidal Fire Nation as brown skinned people?

the only poeple with different skin tones were the southern water tribe in the first of the series.
There was The Boulder, the Guru, Master Piandao and those are just the ones of the top of my head. There are countless others.

Anyway I liked the effect of the arrow on Aang's head in the trailer...it makes it look more ceremonial than the simple blue tattoo in the series.
Yeah, I do like the patterns they gave it. Although the blue was a nice contrast color and mirrored popular Tibetan tattoos.

He's ruined the bloody series. How can something so awesome be degraded into something so... amateurish?
Amateurish? Really? Care to elaborate on what parts of this TEASER TRAILER were so unprofesional?
Directors and producers should have input on trailers and marketing. This is the first glimpse we have of footage of the movie. M. Night has already gotten a lot of heat from his last few movies. This movie has already garnered outcry from the whitewashing and age of the casting.

What did he do to relieve fears? He released an image of Zuko with no scarring. He released a teaser with cliched narration, typical CGI, martial arts moves that came straight from the Star Wars kids and a logo that I wouldn't realize has anything to do with Avatar if I didn't know already.
Alright, fair enough.

I think by white washing, you mean casting white actors when they are supposed to be asian, inuit ect.? The fact that there are at least a few non-white actors is progress at least. I'm certainly not expecting some grand revolution in historical casting tendancies to come about in a childrens movie.

Your second point is completely valid: Shamalan has made some crappy movies. However, He's also made good, comercialy viable movies as well.

I looked up the unscared zuko picture, and that is interesting. I can think of a few reasons on why he is unscared: Having a character with a badly scared face may affect ratings, ect. But I don't know. It could just be shamalan being an idiot. We do have to remember, that despite avatar being very mature in some areas, its still primarily aimed at children.

You're welcome to your opinion, I guess. My opinion is that there isn't enough out about this movie yet, to determine what its quality level will be.

If I recall correctly it's the guy from Slumdog Millionaire.

I /loved/ this series. Loved it. I was doubtful when I heard they were making a live action film based on it. I'm glad someone pointed out that Shylaman was behind Sixth Sense. That gives me a little bit of hope. But I hate that M. Night Shylaman's name is so big on the movie title. And I wasn't sold by Aang. His movements didn't seem as natural or heartfelt as in the animation. It came across as memorized and rehearsed, with a definite lack of commitment. However the fire nation's ships were dead on.

I will definitely be looking for this once it comes out. Whether in the theaters or on dvd is yet to be determined.

Avatar was like WWII only with magic and crap. I enjoyed to whole series. But I probably wouldn't see it although the thought does sound awesome. But one movie that should be made is Sky Land. Now that was an awesome show!!! Had a WWII feeling but with a bigger twist than avatar.
Oh! I loved Sky Land too! It was soooo goood! I do wish I could see it again. Or a remake or something.

I'm gonna go ahead and not assume this will be bad.

Also: Damn, they got the Fire Nation navy absoluetly right. Those ships just sold me a ticket, regardless of how the film turns out.
I definitely agree on that one... Looks very cool

I know this doesn't address your overall point, but to be fair M. Night is fantastic director with regards to cenimatography and acting. It's his writing that suffers, something that shouldn't be a problem with an adaptation.

And come on, you're complaining that the trailer's generic? Just about every trailer in the past 5 years could be lumped into a couple of different styles. It says nothing about how good a movie will be.

What would you've liked to see from this teaser, if I may ask? Aside from things like casting decisions and such. (I mean the teaser itself.)
